Willy is in the spotlight.

I have had problems with Willy getting UTI's. I have been fighting them off and on for about 4 months. I finally switched cat food to a urinary tract health formula and it seems to be working. But tonight, ahhh tonight.
Bill had just finished cleaning the litter box for me, and as everyone knows a cat absolutely HAS to use the litter box if it has been cleaned or the litter changed!
Willy is no slouch on that count. Sometimes he doesn't even wait until we're done cleaning the box before he hops in and uses it. Well tonight he waited about three minutes and hopped in. I spotted him squatting there, with a bit of a pained look on his face. My first thought was "OH NO, not another urinary tract infection!!!
So I turned on the light, which spot lights the litter box (It is a swivel head lamp so Bill aimed it at the litter box so he could see what he was doing.)and watched Willy. His look soon changed from one of what I presumed was pain to one of "Don't you have anything better to do than watch me in the toilet?" He finished and was burying the results when I scurried over to check to see if it was urine and if it was tinged with blood. It turned out that he was taking an ENORMOUS dump!!! When I peeked into the litter box he shot me a look of sheer disgust and marched off with his tail in the air and obviously upset that he had an audience watching him and he "went"
He has been cruising by the family room the rest of the evening giving me dirty looks. He won't join me on the couch---humm maybe he's still upset?
Have you upset your kitty when he or she has been on the pot?

AAAhhh {{Loverbear}}, you know all cats have such "attitudes" you'd swear

Willy will soon forget "maybe" that he was in the spotlight while trying
to take a healthy Pooooo!!!
That's funny!!
Glad there was no urgent situation like another UTI for da kitty but I'm
sure he was not thinking along those lines when he had the light shined on him
he was probably thinking WTF????????????
Did he poo not have any smell ?? LOL! I just had to ask that you know?
Another great Cat story, thank you for the laugh this morning!!

This time it didn't smell. I changed to a urinary tract food and it seems to make the poop smell better...if poop can smell better.
Willy is finally "speaking" to me again. As much as both he and his brother talk. In fact he just slinked in with something in his mouth, it turns out to be the cat nip mouse that passes for a piece of cat poop. I hate to admit how many times I've picked that idiot thing up with a paper towel just to find out that it is the cat nip mouse. Bill gave it to them for Christmas the year before last and they love it...I don't have the heart to throw it out. Oops, he batted it under the tv stand and then stuck his tail in the fan...We have the fan on the floor to keep the dogs cool, and if nothing else, Abby manages to knock the protective screen off it and stick her tail in it. Fortunately it is rubber blades so no one gets hurt, just startled.
I love giving you a great laugh with the antics of these two ding-a-lings. I can't tell you how often I thanked God that I was able to adopt the pair! They give me much more fun and love than I ever can give them.

LOL--It's about time Willy was in the spotlight rather than Khuay--hey you have to give them equal time right? LOL
My two cats definitely like there privacy when in the kitty loo, especially Kissy. Pyewacket is often a riot as when he goes he digs, digs, digs...I say to him "What...are you digging to China?" Which prompts a look from him
Years and years ago, I did a careful watch with one of my former cats, Sachiko. On that particular Thanksgiving day, I had just set the turkey in the oven--I literally sew up the turkey with needle and thread. Then I came out and did a Thanksgiving studio set up in the living room as I wanted to photograph seasonal Thanksgiving fall type scenes. At one point, Sachi came out of the kitchen and was doing something weird with her mouth, pawing at it...I stopped everything went over to her, opened her mouth and......OMG---somehow she managed to find the needle with thread and swallowed it as I could see it in the bad of her throat......panic time..I tried to get it out, but in the process, she swallowed it...it just wasn't at the back of her throat now. So I called up this veterinary hospital...one of the very few open 24/7 and even holidays--I told the receptionist what had happened and if she had any advice for me...she insisted I bring Sachi in....well no could do, as we were strapped for money having spent a fortune for the goodies for thanksgiving dinner and this place charged something like $100 just to walk in and say hi to them. Anyway, the receptionist said the best you could hope for is that the needle will eventually come out in the poo.
Sachi must have wondered what the heck her mom was doing as every time she went to the kitty loo I'd sit and watch her do her thing...this went on all day Thanksgiving Day, and the next day.....nothing no..needle. Finally on the following day, Sachi did a dump and viola....the needle was in it.....I was never happier to see a poo but poor Sachi must have thought her mom was a tad demented watching for her poo all the time

Khuay is fascinated by sewing needles and thread. I have to cover them so he can't get to them. We did have a Siamese that ate the string from the turkey many years ago. He finished in the litter box and them hopped like a rabbit across the house. We finally saw the turkey string hanging from the poop shoot. I grabbed a paper towel and managed to grab the end of the string. The cat scampered across the room and the string came out the shoot!
Mostly the cats get one of my long hairs in their digestive tract and the poop forms around the hair. It comes out connected...kinda like the old fashioned sausages were connected. It was interesting to fish out of the litter box.
Now that I have managed to make people sick and swear off sausages....
I did read that if your dog or cat does eat a needle it isn't quite as dire as if they eat a pin. Since there is no head on the needle, it will work its way out of the animal safely, but since pins have a head they will get jammed in the animal and surgery is needed. With the acid content in cats, the thread would be weakened so that it would break away from the eye of the needle and things would work out great. It fascinates me that cats and dogs back in the "early" days survived since people fed them table scraps and taking them to the vet was unheard of. Now people will take the animal to the vet if the animal farts wrong. But that is another post somewhere down the line.
Sachi must have wondered if you didn't have ANYTHING better to do than to watch her poop! Aren't you thankful that they can't speak their minds at times?

Our cats do NOT want us seeing them using the litter box. That's a very private thing for them. If we happen to see them - they get upset and a couple of them will actually jump out of the litter box and refuse to use it until we're not there anymore!
We have a cat prone to urinary tract problems. We feed a low magnesium food to all of the cats. It's certainly better for them and ends up being cheaper than spending big bucks at the vets again. We feed the 9 lives urinary tract formula. The price isn't too outrageous. Iams cat food is even better, but with several cats it ends up being too expensive. We feed extra canned food to the cats every day too.

Hello loverbear! So far, I have not "disturbed" any of my four cats as they are doing their thing. The only time I may have disturbed one of them is when I went to my garage and it was in the middle of the night. I was angry with my neighbor who was partying loudly and went to my garage so that I could go to them and ask them to tone down their noise. Purr must have been sleeping soundly because he literally jumped when he saw my shadow! :P My anger disappeared and I had to laugh, and it took Purr quite a few minutes to get back to his senses. I must have really frightened him.
