Assuming of course that you celebrate christmas. I think it is a little early and I might try to sort out my old decors and see if I really need to buy new ones. Times are difficult these days, financially, that is.

We also don't decorate until after Thanksgiving--we usually start on Black Friday and try to get it done by the end of that week--and we have accumulated so many decorations over the years that we definitely don't need any more. We'll probably try to get everything up before my brother has to go back to college, but he has trimesters instead of semesters at his school so I think he gets a full week for Thanksgiving.

You should come and visit the Philippines and see all the decorations and christmas lights flashing at the onset of the "...ber" months. Cheers.

Hey, maybe someday I will! Thanks for the invite. :) My heart is with you all as you deal with the aftermath of the floods. Know that Americans are thinking of you right now.

We haven't started decorating our house for christmas. In fact, I'm planning not to have a christmas tree. My grandma is beginning to make her house ready for christmas.

There are actually many people I know who don't put up christmas trees anymore. Maybe some people are doing it just for the sake of small children to have fun and not to be out of place from the other children.

Hi I am from the Philippines too and I have not started hanging Christmas decors when the ber month came. I always start hanging decors in September. And I have not bought new Christmas decors. The department stores here in my place have started selling christmas trees at discounted prices but they were the trees not sold last year. Anyways, I still have a good christmas tree used for many years now. The Christmas decors are stored in a box carefully so it will be long lasting. Finances are tight so Christmas decors are not a priority this time. I just use the old and newer ones and change the decor style so it's not the same as last year. All our creativity will surely come out during this time. Cheers.

Good idea. Divisoria is flooded with new and attractive decors but we should resist the urge to buy, shouldn't we. LOL Thanks.

crisis, it is. You're right. Too much misplaced values and commercialism nowadays. God bless you too.

as much as possible, i don't buy new christmas decors. i only recycle the old ones, re-style and replace small missing items here and there, and ... that is all. with almost everything rising in price, we really need to be practical and make do with whatever we have. christmas will always be a happy event, with new or old decors.

yes, nice thoughts. Christmas will always be happy whether decorations are new or old. It's just that in many places, Christmas celebrations are highly commercialized too. Have a nice day.

I have plenty of Christmas decorations so I don't need to buy anything and I'm nowhere close to dragging them out of the closet they're currently living in. I don't decorate until after Thanksgiving. Since we hang lights outside, on the house and along the fences, it's a big job and not something my husband and I look forward to.

People in different countries have different practices. Here in the Philippines, folks start decorating their homes at the onset of the "...ber" months. Strange isn't it. We actually are ranked to have one of the longest celebration of Christmas. Have a nice day.
