How do you entertain kids on a cold and wet day?

When I was young, pre television days, and the weather outside was cold, wet, and miserable, for entertainment we used to have colour books, toy soldiers, and cars to entertain ourselves. Then when my shildren and it was too miserable to go outside, they watched cartoons on television for most of the time. I am wondering what the youngsters of the twenty-first century do for entertainment on similar days. Any input would be appreciated. Thank you.

Is the weather ever too miserable to go out in? I gess it depends where you live but here theres no inappropriate weather just inappropriate clothing wraped up warm its great fun to go outside and play proper fresh air! the best part being able to come indoors get changed sit in front of the fire and have a cuddle and a warm drink

There are times I'd rather not go outside, but the warm fire and cuddle appeal. Thanks for responding.

All I have to say is thank God for DVDs, computer games and Nintendos! During the school holidays I do make time for special activities with my daughter and we do the usual things when the weather is bad, bake cookies, read together, play a board game etc but when I have to work all of the above come in really handy!

Hi paula, it's so nice to hear board games are still played. I bet your daughter loves to react with you for a change to the screen. I bet the board games are fun. Cooking would also be good. Take care.

We watch Television the whole day as well as surf the net at the same time this way two in one work are done and the time spent is used. When I was in school, I usually talked on the phone much,almost5+ hours.People very annoyed with this and my parents said that they would buy me a new set so I do not engage the latter phone.

I would have thought talking of the phone all day would be rather expensive. Thanks for your response.

tv showing cartoons and eat chips and popcorns. sometimes, i place a makeshift house made of carton boxes with blanket roof in the room and then we play with their dolls and cars. if they feel bored doing that, i tell stories of fairies and monsters. ann

Hi ann, the makeshift house reminded me, we used that with our kids too. Thanks for reminding me of some fun memories. Those times were good to recall. Mike.
