Hi Mylotters My husband was telling me that when he was in college their was a small donut shop near campus they made donuts for the local bakery shops and also sold them to the public he remembers how good they used to smell and especially taste when he would go over and get some fresh and hot right from the fryer made from scratch! He said you could sit there and watch them make the donuts and the smell was wonderful He said you could get a half dozen for $1.75 (well that was back in the late 70's So have any of you ever had fresh warm donuts made from scratch?

Hiya Cherryd41, No I have never eaten them but I really would not mind being able to take a trip over there to try them they sound really scrumptious delicious. Donuts are really a no no for me too but I love the smell of them being cooked which ever way. Donuts with jam right in the middle is one of my favourites also.

Hi Cherry, Sorry you don´t like those donuts again I´m not a great donut eater not supposed to eat them but the smell of them cooking is too much for me. Here there are Chocolate coated ones and then chocolate with bits of icing on the outside and then ones with chocolate and bits of icing and almonds altogether and they have a chocolate cream inside too. Also there are ones with a vanilla taste. Of course there are home made ones and people put what they want in theirs but I have never heard of any preferences personal ones I mean but for the commercial ones yes they sell very well here. I will eat the odd one here and there. Hope you enjoy your donuts que aproveches means enjoy them. Cheers all.

My very first job was working weekends at a local donut shop where we made all of our donuts from scratch. Yes, the place smelled wonderful! I loved eating freshly made donuts...but the first time I tried filling one, it exploded!

Hi Cherry, I live in England and if I ever go to the seaside on a holiday I can buy fresh donuts. The best was a place near my mum's which cooked them nice and slowly so you got a fluffy inside and a lovely crisp outside, I was practicaly addicted to those. I have come across some free standing donut cooking trucks, well one in a city near me, and while they were passable, they were cooked at much too hot a heat so the inside wasn't right. It is probaly a good thing they weren't that good though, fresh donuts are something I could eat forever so if they were around I would be rather unheathy lol. They cost about £1 for 5 at the place by my mums, but that was a few years ago. Or I think £1 for 4 at the truck in the city near me. All the best, Dranz

Yes and they are delicious. You can also make donuts at home fairly quickly and easy and obtain close to that same flavor. Also you can work with kids and create numerous topping combos.

Hi Wlee I never tried my hand at making donuts from home I don't trust myself to make the correctly Besides I don't want to tempt myself into eating them again because I know once I start I won't stop with just one ...no way I could do that the taste to good!
