Idiots on e-bay |
|
I am sorry for using such terms but my God some people deserve what they get. There is this particular seller (no longer active I assume using other account now) he has over 40 pages of negative feedback and people still bid on his items. If you read it you will see the same thing:did nor recive item, missing parts, took for ever to get to me. Why bid on it when there is a huge risk. Mind you this person was selling mobile phones so its not $1 thing. When I bid on things I always check feedback and when few negatives wont change my mind 40 pages of negatives will. What do you think who is the idiot here? would you bid on such items knowing the risk?

1. maezee (4751) | 3 months ago | It sounds like them bidding on these items has upset you! I wonder why? It's certainly not your problem, is it? You never know the situation these people are in when bidding, and whether or not they're new. A lot of people don't know how the rating system works until they start getting the hang of eBay a little more (admit it - it CAN get to be confusing!) and some people like to think about the best in people rather than the opposite.
I definitely would check ratings if I was bidding; it is the sensible thing to do. If someone doesn't do that, though, I wouldn't call them an idiot, I just wouldn't say that's a very smart thing to do.

violeta_va (1982) | 3 months ago | I dont know where you got the impresion that I was upset why would I be upset if an unknown person lost money in a scam. I am opening a discussion here as this is the whole point of mylot to discuss things. And no most people I see living feedback in this particular case are not new to e-bay. The reason I had to check this person is because I am selling something and the highest bider on my item left 3 negative feedbacks on the same seller (he got 3 mobiles each about 2-3 weeks aparta and got none of them as it looks) so I wanted to see why did he live so many feedbacks so it does not happen to me. Because I take this steps I have a perfect score which is important to me as I do sell a lot of things and want to keep my buisness (thats how I fund my autistis son therapy)

2. pergammano (2020) | 3 months ago | I like many people these days am finding money a little harder to come by...and a little easier to dispense with, so am extremely cautious! Negative feedback, no matter how earnestly I wished the product would certainly deter me! I guess what surprises me, is the e-bay, with that many demerits, still allows this person on their website! I think that if I stumbled across this person, I might ask e-bay a few questions! Guess you have "blown a hole" in my beliefs, as I was under the impression that e-bay had higher standards with their sellers! Thanks for the "heads up" dear friend...I will look at e=bay in a less jaded manner. Cheers!

violeta_va (1982) | 3 months ago | I was shocked to see that to be honest. This person had about 2000 negative or neutral feedback plus probably about 5 pages of "seller and buyer agreed to widraw feedback" thing and I bet of those people few complained to e-bay and he was still allowed to trade that just shows that they are after profits and nothing more after all they get zero from buyers but charge the seller so they dont care. But to see some people buying things from this guy its what confuses me the most.

3. puddytatt (841) | 3 months ago | i am a regular ebayer and i always check the reputation of the seller before i buy, but i did make the silly mistake of buying an item from one user without checking, i never received the item, it cost me £10 and it took forever to get my money back, i had written to this guy over and over again for a refund but he chose to ignore me, it took me 6 weeks to finally get my money back and that was only because i reported it to ebay and paypal and told them who this person was and what i ordered and how long ago it was, i also left negative feedback on his page letting others know that he was a unreliable source, he did have his account deleted and i also got emaild from other users telling me that they too had been ripped off by this person, he was making a fortune out of us and not coming across with the goods....how do these people sleep at night....some poeple just don't learn do they, it's at their own risk if they want to bid on an item without chacking first, if they get ripped off then they only have themselves to blame.

violeta_va (1982) | 3 months ago | exacly my point. i once had my identity stolen by a seller and I had no idea:))) before I went on my holiday last year (for 3 months) I got something from this guy and it had a catchy name so it stuck in my brain. so i went on holiday and did not check e-bay for 3-4 months and then I wanted to buy something and could not log in so I checked my mail and my account was blocked as e-bay detected that someone tryed to use my account to sell something and to prevent it they blocked my account and told me the steps I should take to reopen my account. And then I noticed it was the same guy I got something from. but i felt great knowing e-bay has ways of detecting such things as i would have had no idea what was going on.

4. uath13 (3861) | 3 months ago | I guess they're just too anxious to get a good deal to look closely. Sometimes the gatta have it now mentality gets a lot of people in trouble.

| 5. twistedquest (24) | 3 months ago | Wow...and I'm already thinking hard about bidding if the person has 4 or 6 negatives. Sometimes it may not even be other people it may be the sellers friends or himself creating different accounts and bidding on the sellers own items to lure the real bidders into bidding and getting stuck with a crappy item. There are some people who don't do their homework before bidding like checking how long the seller has been a member and all the feedback: Negative, Neutral and Positive. You also have to make sure if those positives are suspiciously the same buyer(s) and then check to see how long they are members themselves.
Reading the description carefully is very important. Some sellers will sell something like lets say a fishbowl and they wont put the size or the material it's made out of. Some people expect it to be made out of glass and a decent size, but when you get the actual item it's made of plastic and its small not even for a fish to live there. It's why you have to ask questions before bidding or buying an item. Also a lot of new ebay buyers fall victim to shady merchants because they are barely getting to know how ebay works. Also for the guy to have over 40 pages of negatives...shame on ebay for allowing such a seller to continue ripping off buyers. The idiots I must say the buyers for not doing their homework and taking a risk and complaining later.

violeta_va (1982) | 3 months ago | Excelent points thanks for that. As a seller and buyer I love some of the questions on e-bay, I had a Black 3" Vice for sale (that was the title) and had a picture of the vice taken in my bathroom next to the cream wall on green chair with the black vice on it I got a question what colour is the vice hmmmmmm?%$* Yellow with pink and blue stripes I wanted to answer but politly I said as shown on the picture and in the title the vice is BLACK the guy goes oh sorry for that didnt see it. Also I sold my entertainment unit as we got a new one and I had all the measurments with clearly stated "I had a 81 cm lcd tv in the big space where the tv goes" along with the measurments and this lady asked do I know if her 68 cm tv will fit in there "hell no as 68 is more then 81". I agree that questions should be asked but stating the obvious is just waste of time. But if they want to ask I am happy to answer no matter how silly the questions are.

|
|
| twistedquest (24) | 3 months ago | LOL Even if the questions irritate the sellers because the answer is right in front of the buyers...yeah we have to answer them. Don't want to have a fuss with them later through paypal=D

violeta_va (1982) | 3 months ago | my understanding is that you want to sell fresh fruits and vegetables there is no way you will be allowed to do that and they are right to have that restrictions as you can bring lots of plant desieases and bugs with them. Also Australia does a lot to protect its farmers. And string beans and sweet potato are availabele on every corner here so there is no market for them.

|
| xmapril (56) | 3 months ago | no, no, no, i do not sell fresh food, i sell dried products and they are beautifully packaged and they taste relly good. so if this is the case, do you think there is space for my products in your country?

8. walijo2008 (3741) | 3 months ago | You have to be real careful of who you buy from on ebay, I always their feedback first. I've bought some items that took forever to get to me, and I don't know why on some items the shipping is higher than the price of the item. I don't think they should be able to charge whatever they want for shipping, then take forever to get to you or it doesn't work or has parts missing.
