Trying to bore your kids to tears

Have you ever put something really really boring on television to get your kids to leave the room? They haven't done anything wrong so you don't want to send them to their room so you kind of nudge the idea by watching the most boring things on television you can find. 
It probably works better with older kids than younger ones. The younger ones never pay attention to the television that long anyway.

Yes, I have tried to turn on things that are more geared to learning than they are to entertainment in the attempt to get my kids to go do something else besides sit there and stare at the tube, but it backfired on me. My kids became very interested in what I turned on. At least they were learning something though.
