My husband is a hoarder of a load of rubbish. My garden was getting full of wood that he said would come in handy sometime, thats the wood off a shed that he took down, now the wood is behind another shed. Then he has a load of bits and bobs in the shed that he says will come in handy one day.All rubbish that should be in the bin if you ask me.

This is a burden I carry, my Hubby never throws anything out. I am not that way, I do save some things but would give them up in a short time if needed. No only does Hubby save he rubs it in when he is able to do something creative with what he has saved.

People are funny that way. You could just chop it up and sell it for firewood. Or, you could use it to build grape arbor or something fuctional for your garden. Put him to work using it to build something for you. That way you keep him busy and get rid of the wood. I also saw on one of the cable stations a lady that had a guy put together a bunch of old windows to make a room outside that her and her grandkids use for a hobby room. See where I am going with this?? If he bucks then ask him to find a use for it or discard it cause it is driving you bizerk!

You sounded like my wife LOL I am guilty of hoarding a load of junk but I would not call myself that, I would rather describe myself as an expert in the field of material recovery. hahaha Scrap metals, pieces of assorted wood, broken appliances and tools, screws and nails of all sizes, nuts, bolts, metal washers, broken but usable glasses, old carton boxes, plastic containers, old roofing materials, sand and gravels, used engine parts are among the few. I must stop here before I get violent reaction Hahaha. It's my hobby and I enjoy collecting these usable items (or junk as you call them)and your husband is right... they would come in handy sometime, and indeed they will. Of course! have fun!

I have inherited my dad's passion for keeping stuff that WILL come in useful. My mum is still sifting through the garage 7 years on - but, whenever I need a thingammybob or one of those wotyamacallits, I know there will be one somewhere in that garage. Luckily, I also inherited his creative streak that lets you use those bits and bobs for a far wider range of repairs/constructions than they were ever intended. I find that these things tend to be absolutely vital within 24hours of someone else throwing them away!

My mother is a certified public accountant and a certified hoarder. She's been a CPA since 1980's but she still keeps her CPA reviewers in her room. I don't know how many paper mites are so happy about that. When I'm so full of it I try to sneak out a book or two and throw it. If I ask her why she's still keeping those antique books she then tells me that someone might use it. That just doesn't make sense since her books are outdated and not UPDATED. P.S: I think it is good to let hoarders choose whether to loose their hoarded stuff or loose their loved one/s. =)

My husband does this. After he got out of the military the first time he saved a lot of his military gear. He kept saying that he would use. Finally, after carrying it around for almost five years, I finally threw it out while he was away. I have to do the same thing with his clothes, because he'll keep a shirt that has holes and stains in it. I don't mind if he wears it around the house, but then he would try to wear it to town. One of his favorite expressions is, "It's best to ask forgiveness than permission", so I say you should toss all your husband's trash and then ask forgiveness. :p

what kind of wood he stored. well, if for fire wood then in winter time is good for fire... but if just something else then I will call it junk too. well, my husband like to keep just about anything in the garage and I hate that so much... he loves car so it full of car parts or other stuff. One day, I decided to do a yard sell and guess what it turned into a good money for all his junk though. If you dont want him to store too much wood then ask him when these will be handy... what his plan for these? what will he build with it... sometimes he loves to keep but doesn't know how much junk he has

No my husband is not that bad. He pretty much limits his stuff to his office and his side of the garage. He has some sports stuff and a comic book collection, but it they are collections and are reasonable. He does however, have 4 motorcycles which most people think is a little rediculas. But he is not too bad. My laundry room is also a pantry and is stuffed with food and friends make fun of me for that, but I don't care, I like to be stocked up. I don't like going to the store very often.

Hi jugsjugs I am inline with your Husband. I am a hoarder and cannot throw anything out. It maybe that small hoard that will be worth a fortune one day or be put to better use. There is a use for everything even if it is rubbish. Every man has bits and bobs in the shed for it is his domain and they will come in handy one day, trust me they will, often rubbish odds and ends have saved my life. So I say support your Husband in his hoarding, for it is the Hobby of the present and the future

Hi jugjugs OH I see that I aint the only one who has a packrat for a husband. My hubby doesn't want to throw away anything. Just the other day I was going thru some of our winter clothes. I ran across a shirt that had looked like it was 20 years old. Had holes and looked terrible. I tossed it to the side. To listen to him you would have thought I was throwing away a new shirt. He said he could use it to work on cars. Well I won...It got throwed in the trash...LOL..I wish you luck..
