Will you ask God why? will your faith be shattered?

You applied for a job and among the 6 applicants, you are the most qualified. You feel confident that you will be hired not only because you are the most qualified but you believe in God and have prayed so much for this. You read His promises in the Bible that whatever you ask in His name, he will give it to you. And you heartedly believe that He gives good gifts to His children. The next day, you found out that all were accepted excluding you. And mind you, these people don't share your faith? How will you take this?

I have seen my husband go through several disappointments while applying for a job and I somehow can relate to this scenario. It was difficult trying to console him whenever he was not accepted but then the knowledge of the sovereignty of God over his circumstance kept him going. We can find consolation in knowing that when God closes a door, He opens a window and that perhaps this is not the "good gift" that God intended for us. God's thoughts and ways are always higher than ours. What right does man have to question an all-knowing God? God bless.

Yes, he doesn't have the right. But even if he do question, it will not change anything. It's much better to believe that God is sovereign and that He knows what is best for those who trust Him. cheers!

Perhaps you assume that whatever you ask in His name means that you ask for what you want and then stick God's name on the end in the hope that just saying the words will fulfill the promise? Asking in the Lord's name means that you seek God's will and submit to His will and judgment. I would take it like this: Chalk it down to experience and carry on looking for a job elsewhere trusting that God is with me and looking after me. Having faith in God means that you understand that there are more important things than having everything you want and more important things than having the specific job that you think you deserve. Sometimes when we don't get what we want, we learn a valuable lesson about what is important to us...

Hi, manong I would probably curse the company and its people high and low! I would be very disappointed and ask God to help me get over that. But I do not think I would blame Him. You see, my faith includes my trust that everything I am praying for that is good for me and my family will be given to me at the proper time. If I were excluded by the company, then I know something bigger is in store for me. Cheers!

Your dream definitely will shattered, and you can't accept this truth at all. Your belief on God definitely in doubt. But you don't have to ask God why, that is the real, cruel world we are living in. So, grab a tight grip, moving on. Try it harder next time. Don't give it up. Follow what you really pursuing at.

Yes, your Hopes will be shattered, In the Name of bhagawat Gita( the Holy book of Hindus), if you pray to god with utmost faith, then definitely good thing would happen. Yes, You may initially feel dejected and disappointed, but the fact is that you are destined for a better future and designation. Whenver god shuts all the windows, then he would definitely open the door. I dont mind whether other people have faith in god or not. But I would struggle hard to achieve the laurels and thanks for posting the discussion. Have a great day. Happy Mylotting. Cheers:-)

The good things the Father gives to His children in Matt. 7:11 is not some outward material blessings but is the Holy Spirit as indicated by the parallel verse in Luke 11:13. We ask God for what we want but God gives us what we need. We may not know the whys now but we know who we have believed in and rest in faith knowing that He caused all things to work together for our good and will in the future eventually know why and be thankful.

I don't really have a faith that's like yours. I believe in God but I don't call out to Him often. So whenever I'm on a pinch I have no one to blame except myself or the situation or worse other people. I don't really remember a time when I had asked God "why?" Not that I don't pray, because I do and I almost had been in the same situation as your story, it's just that even before I asked help from Him, I knew things do not always go our way nor do we always get what we wanted. Once I'm able to rationalize why I wasn't hired despite thinking that I am more qualified than other applicants, I'm over that matter and proceed to looking for another job. Even if I had better educational background, I'm smarter and had higher scores during exams (employment), there are things that others possess, which I don't that maybe those were what that company is looking for. I am more upset when I am not even given a chance to prove myself meaning I wasn't invited for initial screening or to take the written exams. I'm still bitter about it until now but I never questioned God and my little faith (compare to yours probably) never shattered.

God and work, now that's a combination indeed. I have prayed for many jobs and gone none. Maybe I should really mean it next time

You make your own luck in this life and cannot go through it relying on some god or other to provide everything for you. So you didn't get the job - ask the employer why, not your God! The learn from their feedback, pick yourself up and move on. Don't dwell on the bad things, see this as an opportunity to get a better job.

I dont believe in god, supreme beings, supernatural forces, I just think that life is life and sometimes life is cruel, i have had loads of experiences like this where i have been by far the most qualified for the job but because im quite young in my profession people tend to pick the older people without trying to discriminate!!

God has a reason of doing things, and I can only say that He is much wiser that anyone of us. Don't let the world consume your faith to Him. God is good all the time.
