weapons not firing correctly in agfghanastan!!  

It's like the guys they sent to Iraq without adequate body armor. I won't debate the war itself, but if you're going to send our guys over there, you should make sure they're adequately equipped.

Well said Antique ,I guess its like double jeopardy to be putting their lives on the line due to enemy fire and not have the right tools to defend themselves .Like you said may be they need to start putting money in the weapons division and I dont mean in getting more artillery but in ensuringthat whattehy have is still working .have a nice day Antique

It all sounds crazy to me. Shouldn't these weapons be tested first before they are sent? It all sounds to be a nightmare and if I watch the Nancy Grace show she always shows a photo of a young man or woman who has died and my heart breaks for them and their families. Some of them are only babies still. 18 or 19 years old. It certainly would help if the weapons given to me coud actually be fired!!

i think you are right. i haven't heard anything about this but it is a lot of things they cover up and we never find out about.i am sorry to hear this,i worry about them all the time as it is.i just wish they all could come home.

This is horrifying to know that our guys and girls are going to war and don't have good working weapons to protect themselves. I'm sure every parent out there that has a son or daughter in war is quite cringing over reading this article or hearing about it on the news.

I think you are right...both my son in laws have had to serve over there....I would have been just sick if I heard something like that! One SIL was in Afghanistan twice.....fortunately he was a NATO peacekeeper....hope they had better weapons!

Of cource the media should and they should realy did deep to find thisa all out but then too it is up to the person to keep rifes and all clean as possible with all that sand around!

when using a weapon one should be an expert in that because these weapons are so deadly. one short move it boomed.

Well to be totally honest since i have had a few times myself in Afghanistan, Most weapon failures are due to improper maintenace. There is so much dust in Afghanistan if you dont clean your weapon every few days, depending on how much you have them outside in the elements, failure is bound to happen. Since alot of soldiers are young they tend to "forget" to clean and oil thier weapons. Not only the small ones but the big ones need it too.

While i was in Afghanistan we also faced the body armor situation. Luckily we had our new supply mid way through our tour there.

What i think is reidiculous is the soldiers that fail to maintain or properly clean thier weapons. On a sorta off note while we were there on base one soldier was tring to clean his weapon forgetting to take the bullet out of it, pulling the trigger and sending a barage of bullets into the wall into another soldier and several computers in the next room. Luckily he only pierced the lung of the other soldier not killing him but seriously injuring him. I think the biggest thing that we should worry about is sending too young of soldiers out to these bases i too often see them act up and cause more problems then a weapon malfunction.

But back to the main topic soldiers know thier weapons and fire them several times before being deployed. If a malfunction happens its the fault of the soldier, weapons are just like anything else you fill it with dirt and dust its not going to work properly. Nuf said.

That is sooo wrong! Those troops are willing to place their lives on the line to protect out freedom! But they don't want to give them away in vain!
