Why you ask?
Because it is more pure. Yellow gold is 22kt. The higher the kt, the more pure it is. White gold is a gold alloy, usually a gold and silver mix. Hence when you see 14kt white gold or a 22kt yellow gold piece of jewellery, buy the yellow gold.
Incidentally, when you look at gold bullion bars or coins, they are 99.99% gold and they are yellow in color.
