GardenGerty Saves Me, Anyone on Mylot Save You?

GardenGerty has no idea I'm posting this discussion. She doesn't even know what she did. A few days ago someone posted about the uses of hairspray. I responded that hairspray can be used on mosquito bites to get rid of the itch. GardenGerty replied under my response that she puts hand santizer on her mosquito bites.
Here comes how she helped me. That night around midnight I was overcome with a burning itch. From the soles of my feet to my scalp. I couldn't figure it out until I looked up a fairly recent medication my doctor had put me on. A rare side effect was severe itching. I won't go into why, but I couldn't go to a store and find something to help (the next day I picked up Benadryl). And I couldn't take my own suggestion about hairspray helping itching because I never use hairspray so I didn't have any! But I remembered GardenGerty's response. I DID have hand sanitzer. For the rest of the night, every two hours when the itching would come back, I slathered hand sanitizer from my feet to my neck (I didn't think it wise to put on my scalp or face). She got me through the night! I wouldn't have slept a wink if it weren't for her. My arms were beet red because of the medication side effect, whether I scratched them or not.
Has anyone on Mylot ever given you advice that turned out to save you trouble, time, money, or in my cace, extreme pain?

I am so happy that you were helped by a friend here at Mylot. You must have given thanks for the relief. I have received much support from friends here at Mylot - especially emotional support when I need it. You especially have helped me with your encouraging words and prayers when things got on top of me. I have been here a year now and it has been great.
So much fun and the joy of sharing a burden and feeling better because it has been shared. Do you know what I mean? I have also received such good advice when I had the twins living wit me and lots of good tips to save money. Many blessings, dear friend and get well and stay well.

That’s great! This is another advantage of making friends here! Just today I obtained the link for a new back up software from another MyLotter which has solved the problem of how to back up my computer on a regular basis and a while ago another member suggested a great spyware removal program. So far the advice has been computer related and it greatly appreciated!
I love it here, don't you?

Hi AmbiePam
Im glad to hear that you was able to get thru the night with her help. I bet she will be amazed when she realizes that there is a discussion about her. I think you have done a wonderful job by starting this discussion. Im happy to call you a friend of mine.
I have gotten advise from some others on here that has really helped me out. I was doubting myself on going back to college and friends on here helped me realize that I was good enough to go back to school.
You have a great day and keep smiling.

Well, I hope by now your Rash has gotten better, and you are feeling a lot better as well. Having side effects as in Rashes to a medication are NO FUN for sure. I am allergic to Benedril even, so for me that is not a solution. But I am sure if I would remember that about Hand Sanitizer I might have to consider using it for minor rashes and skin irritations as well.

I don't have a rash now, not even a small but of redness, but the itch is still there (although not as bad). I take over the counter allergy medicine a couple of times a week, but I never take benadryl unless I have an itching issue. Why is it that Benadryl seems to be the only allergy medicine that cures itching?

I have gotten some great recipe suggestions on here. And a few people gave me a recipe that I was specifically looking for that was very helpful. I have also learned about a few different online earning web sites on here that I might not have heard of otherwise. I have also been given some pretty good personal advice when I was upset, and some advice on how to find some information I was looking for. I would say over all this is a very helpful community.
On the same line as insect bites I saw on television the other day that rubbing honey on bee stings helps the pain go away and keeps the swelling to a minimum.

GardenGerty saved me as well. A while back, I was pickled in mosquito bites, and nothing seemed to help, so I posted a discussion asking for hints. GG said use hand sanitiser or mouthwash. I had mouthwas available, so I used it. Not only did it take away the itching, it reduced the swelling and also acts as an insect repellent. So now I just buy the cheapest mouthwash I can find and it acts as repellent, sting relief and disinfectant, all in one little dab. Thanks GG - you rock!

Intersting... I've had a lot of mosquito bites and they are terrible, I'll have to try the hand sanitizer.
To answer your question, no I do not think anyone as ever given me advice like that. I've never in my three months of mylot have something like that happen.
But I have been saved in mylot. I know that this might sound really cliche or cheesy, but mylot has saved me from a life of meaninglessness.
Well, maybe not that dramatic, I think mylot has just saved me from boredom and satisfied my curiosity.

I got some people here that did inspire me and given me wonderful advices on how to deal with relationships and maximizing my time in mylot. I cannot thank them enough so I made an interest of my own. Thanking them and at the same time celebrating my first month here in mylot. Unfortunately, I made it on the exact same day the mylot glitch had affected me

people on mylot are great
they are forever helping me and sympathizing with me etc. i had the itching thing happen to me the last time, 4mths ago when my doctor put me on a medication, antibiotic i was allergic to
i also swelled up all over, even the bottoms of my feet
had to go to the doc and get a shot. it was a terrible experience, especially when im one of those people that never likes to take meds anyway.
