Ok, here's the deal! I live in London and I have never ever witnessed a real tornado. I have only seen these in the movies and breaking news stories on Sky News. I know this sounds crazy but I would like to try that one day! Storm chasing! Correct me if I'm wrong but don't they offer tours in the US for this? So, do you know anything about storm chasing and have you actually followed a tornado? I'm sure that this might be quite sensitive for those that have suffered huge loss as a consequence of tornado damage. Does anyone live in the area of tornado valley or is it alley? What's it like? I don't know if anyone offers tours for chasing storms because you can't predict very far in advance if a storm is going to be an any one location. There definitely are large areas of the U.S. where you could see a tornado but, again, you're at the mercy of the weather. I live in Florida and we have some really cool versions of tornados here called water spouts, which are funnel clouds that form over water and pick up the water as they spin. I've seen one from a distance while at the beach and it was really cool!

I've heard of those and I guess they are very attractive to look at. All said and done though I'm thinking that storm chasing is quite a dangerous hobby. I think that quite a while back there was news of a couple of mini tornadoes over here in England and this was quite a shock to everyone as we don't normally get them over here. However, I guess this was a real sign of the ever changing climate conditions. Andrew

No thank you! I'm from Michigan and I remember all the tornado warnings and going into the basement until it was over. They're dangerous. I don't know whether stormchasers are courageous or fools! LOL! Although, I guess there might be some good scientific reasons for doing it.

Hi catwoman, stormchasers are thrill seekers no doubt about that but it's a very dangerous job to do. Well, we don't get them in England so I guess we're pretty safe! Andrew

I have lived in Tonado Alley all of my life, except when I briefly lived in California. It was earthquake territory there.I would not chase a storm. No interest.I have not been directly involved in one, but I have been close.

You must be so used to seeing tornadoes now then. I suppose some people make a real living from chasing tornadoes. I remember seeing that film 'Twister' and I think that the whole idea was glamorised in that movie. Anyway, I should count myself lucky that I live in a place where we don't generally get tornadoes.
