Does your spouse snore? |
|
I was just sitting listening to my husband as he sleeps and I can't help but be annoyed by his snoring. He for some reason just recently started snoring but it seems to be every single night now and it is loud. He never used to snore unless he was really tired and hadn't slept in a few days or had a few drinks in him but that was almost never. My brother in law snores like a bear and my sister is always telling me how she has to go to be before him so she can sleep and I am almost to that point lately although I am not sure if that will matter because the other day it was so loud that it woke me out of my sleep and I wasn't able to fall back asleep. I know that there can be serious health related issues to snoring and I am hoping it isn't something like that being it just started but I really wish it would stop because I have been losing a lot of sleep because of the snoring. So what about you are you losing sleep due to your loved ones snoring??

1. XiaoLin (138) | 1 month ago | Hi froggieslover,
I also can't stand it when my husband snores. Fortunately, it doesn't happen every night, ant it is nothing compared to the noise my father used to do, when I was living with my parents. I don't know how my mother can sleep, actually. I feel a little bad because when my husband snores I kick him in the legs in order to meke him turn. When he changes his position he usually stops snoring. I don't kick him consciously, I just do it while half aseep. Sometime, when I am full awake, I gently push him telling him to turn, but he does it while still sleeping and he turns back to the snoring position again. So, the only solution is the kick. Sorry hubby. As for the health problem related to snoring, maybe you coul ask your doctor. There are hospitals that whatch you while sleeping, in order to find out if you have sleeping-habit problems. But maybe it's not your husband case. It could only be a very stressing period, tired from work or something similar. Try asking him.

froggieslover (1022) | 1 month ago | He never used to snore like this now it is every night, I have already done the same things you say you have done with the kicking and nudging. It usually works for a little bit and then he is right back to snoring again. I think a lot of what it has to do with is he hasn't been getting as much sleep as he used to. I also realize that in the morning when he used to get up in the early morning he is now sleeping in a bit longer. Thanks for your response.

My husband also snores in the periods he is more tired and stressed, and I also realized he doesn't get up well restored. He doesn't feel he has slept enough. Is it the same for yours?

| 3. shaunken (32) | 1 month ago | yes, my husband does snore especially when he's very tired and stressed from work. i even took a video of him snoring. that was really a funny video because when he snored so loud, i moved the cam closed to his face then i moved it backward when he stopped and i did it repeatedly. it was a 1-minute video. he was laughing when i showed him the video.

froggieslover (1022) | 1 month ago | That is funny because I told him a few times how I couldn't sleep because of his snoring and he would teasingly say back how he doesn't snore so one night I decided to take my digital camera and let it record for a little while while he slept and snored away. The sound didn't come out quite as well as I had hope it would so just the other day I recorded him with out boom box recorder and the sound was great....it was like I was sitting right there recording again. It was funny to see his face as he listened. He said he was sorry LOL....

4. rosepedal64 (1251) | 1 month ago | Hi froggie How are you this morning? Did you get any good sleep last night? I know what you are saying about snoring. My hubby snores alot and has since we first got together which was about 8 years ago. Some nights he was worse than other nights. I have to fall asleep first or I can't sleep. I have been taking Tylenol PM to help me do that. Im not sure exactly what they say about snoring but I think it has something to do with the breathing. I know there have been nights that I have to wake him and have him to turn over. I do this by nudging him a little and he will turn over. I wish you the best and hope that you can find a fix for this. Have a great day and keep smiling..

froggieslover (1022) | 1 month ago | Hi Rose, Actually last nights sleep was pretty good because I was so tired I didn't even remember my head hitting the pillow so I didn't hear him snoring at all. I am sure he is snoring because he is tired and I have have realized that if I shake my leg or nudge him in the side he will quit for a little while. I have always been told that snoring has to do with breathing as well and that it may be something serious. I am sure that it is not that since it just seems to have started when he is losing sleep, but I just rather be safe than sorry. Thanks for your response and have a great week.

| 6. wengerts (25) | 1 month ago | Yes, he snores too. But it's not that annoying & does it very rarely. I've been noticing that when he's tired, he snores. Oh did I mention that I do that too occasionally.:) My hubby tells me that I snore too. But I don't believe him because he always makes fun of me. I only accepted the "truth" when one of my co-workers heard me snoring during an overnight company event.
I think snoring has something to do with our tonsils (or some other parts connected to our mouth). I have a nephew who snores big time. And he's a kid! We often tell him that everytime he rides with us, even without the radio playing, his snore alone serves as our background music.:) My mom was alarmed because not all kids snore too much like adults. He had my nephew checked by a doctor. Diagnosis says that his 2 tonsils are situated next to each other with no opening for air passage. An operation is necessary to correct it.

froggieslover (1022) | 1 month ago | That is how my husband used to be, I could always tell when he was really tired because he would snore but now it is so often that it drives me batty. My son was 8 and used to snore quite often and also had trouble when he would breath, he could breath but it always sounded like he had a stuffy nose and had to breathe through his mouth but he wasn't stuff up it was his tonsils that were so swollen that he was having trouble. He had his tonsils removed and has been much better since. Both my husband and I still have our tonsils and maybe that has a bit to do with his snoring...we have said that maybe his allergies or sinuses had something to do with it as well. He just got over a cold(strept throat like) and it that also seems to be the time he started snoring so maybe it is that as well with the lose of a bit of sleep. Thanks for your response.

7. puddytatt (813) | 1 month ago | OMG tell me about it, i have had so many fights about this, i have lost sleep, woken up every night listening to that hideous snoring, twitching, sweating, and everything else he did while he was asleep....it caused alot of problems between us both, i couldn't handle the lack of sleep any more, so i sent him packing, it was not fair on me because he slept well and i was laying there at night listening to that horrible noise, to top it, i had to get out of bed and sleep on the couch because of his snoring, i only have one bedroom, so there's no other room for me to sleep in, so i decided to solve the problem by asking him to go home.

froggieslover (1022) | 6 days ago | Well my husbands snoring does get quite annoying but I wouldn't say it bothers me that much. If it starts to get that bad then I will come down to the couch but most of the time after a few taps he will stop long enough for me to be able to fall asleep. Thanks for your response puddytatt

| 8. Laur25 (7) | 1 month ago | Hi,
An old boyfriend of mine used to snore sooo loud every night. When I lived with my parents, me Dad was a very loud snorer. It used to drive me crazy because I could hear him all the way upstairs into my bedroom (when he'd be asleep on the couch) and it would wake me up. I guess because of my Dad, snoring doesn't bother me anymore. When my old boyfriend used to snore and it would wake me up, I would actually laugh at him, and slightly move him away to get him to roll over so he'd stop. For some weird reason it was funny to me. It was pretty funny sometimes to when I'd walk into the room while my old bf was asleep and watch him snore because he made some weird sounds and faces. My suggestion if it's really bad for you is to try rolling him over, you can also get a mouth gaurd. He should consult with a doctor if it's really bad and constant. Usually when they roll over or change position while asleep and snoring, they should stop snoring. I also think it's all in how their breathing while sleeping. Possible post nasal drip also. The air flow isnt flowing good through the nose.

froggieslover (1022) | 5 days ago | My brother in law snores like a bear and my sister in law has to go to bed earlier than than he does that way she can be asleep before he comes up and starts snoring away.We have been camping with him before and it is so loud you would think there is a bear coming after you LOL. I haven't yet came to that point where i have had to go to sleep earlier than my husband and frankly I am not sure if that would work or not because I have never been able to fall asleep in bed without my husband there, he is my warmth and I can't get comfortable without him. He usually stops snoring if i elbow him and it gives me enough time to try and fall asleep before he starts again Thanks for your response Laur25

9. weasel81 (1072) | 1 month ago | i know what you mean it's really annoying when others snor. my partner used to be really bad, i would block his nose to make him stop. but then he finally got tested for sleep apena, now he's on the machine that stops him snoring and we all get a good nights sleep. you can tell when he doesn't have a good sleep cause he's cranky and tired the next day.

froggieslover (1022) | 5 days ago | My husband has never been real cranky but he will be tired. He has never been a snorer but as of lately he has been and I know it is because he is not getting enough sleep. Even though he has been doing it a lot more than usual he still has a few nights where he doesn't and it seems to be on the nights when he gets a bit more sleep. He has never been tested for sleep apnea only because he doesn't seem to do it all the time like I said just on the times he is lacking sleep..if it gets worse I would be sure to get him tested. Thanks for your response weasel

10. udnisak (207) | 1 month ago | i never had a problem with my wife snoring.. she is so sweet and sleeps like a baby..lol but once i had such a experience with her.. that time she was sick .. she got cold and her nose is kind of blocked.. so when she is breathing while sleeping she couldnt help snoring.. acutally i dont call it snoring..

froggieslover (1022) | 5 days ago | Aren't you sweet...your wife must be standing over your shoulder as you type this LOL.. It is weird that you mention that time your wife had a cold because when my husband and I were talking about his snoring and how it keeps me awake and he said he noticed that the snoring seemed to start right after he got over a small cold that he had and he also lost quite a bit of sleep within that time from being sick and such. I realized that he would be snoring during that time like your wife but he still seems to be doing it but we have been going to bed about an hour later than we normally do so I think that is why...Thanks for your response udnisak
