Horror films! | | When I was younger, movies like Friday the 13th, Nightmare on Elm Street, and Child's Play, were my enemies! I just couldn't watch them without being scared out of my mind!
Teenage years, I absolutely loved horror movies, and movies with alot of suspicion and action in them. I absolutely loved Wrong Turn, and Dawn of the Dead. I loved Doom, and movies with just some amazing casts in them and interesting, though horrifying themes to them. I never could understand how I could be so scared when I was younger to watch them.
Adult years, I'm once again embracing the childhood years, where I just cannot watch a horror film! I'll watch them, but chances are, I'll be hiding under the covers, on the edge of my seat, or screaming at every part that has that "jumpiness" to it. You know where the killer comes around the corner or something, lol.
I have turned into a wuss lol! I just don't like violence, I bad for everyone, but they sure are for me. My heart races and there's a guarentee I'll scream at the slightest thing lol. Don't get me wrong, I like them, I just dn't like the way they make me feel.
Do you like horror movies? Do they terrify you the same way they do me?

| janette2009 (81) | 2 months ago | lol oh yes, its definitely better with family and friends. Last night my brother talked me into watching Friday the 13th. I was texting during the movie and I was forwarding a message from my mom's phone to mine, and mine was in my room - because right now its messed up, lol. Anyway, the phone starts ringing from the back of the house, and it freaked them both out! It was so funny because I wasn't even trying. My mom's ringtone on my phone is the ice cream truck song, and I ended up saying that I could so see "It" (you know, the clown), driving a ice cream truck. It was funny.

I remember watching Friday the 13th with all alone at midnight when I was much younger..I was scared but I had to watch, so I turned the volume to low and then, it wasn't so scary anymore...

| janette2009 (81) | 2 months ago | I remember watching Nightmare on Elm Street. The one where the girl is on top of the ceiling n the hospital, lol. I think my brother and I both got scared that night, and we hid under the covers. I have a tendency of turning away when I know something is fixing to happen, lol. I can't handle the whole "killing" scene. Though, I guess that's what makes the horror films.. horror films.

| | 4. oldmanhorrorfan (397) | 2 months ago | Yepper, I sure do like horror movies, I get a kick out of being spooked. I guess watching horror movies, for me, are a way to get a safe rush out of something. Get a rush out of getting caught off guard by the actors, directors, storylines. If it's real freaky movie then I do enjoy the "jumpiness" you mentioned. I guess films are a way for me to be put in danger but not real real danger. You know what I mean? Really, I know no real killer is going to come walking out from behind the couch to get me, at least I hope. On another level, I did get really scared watching horror films as a kid, now that I'm older, I tend to laugh at them. The over the top tall tales, the long shadows, too dark to see if something is hiding in them. The violence isn't good either, violence in reality isn't good for anyone. But when it comes to the fantasy of horror, too much violence in a film can become cheesy, almost slapstick. There are a lot of comedy movies that also rely on violence to get the story's point across, too.

| janette2009 (81) | 2 months ago | lol, they can definitely be comical!! The old ones especially. We noticed this last night, instead of the girls "running" from Jason, they just sit there and scream. Its like they're saying, "Here I am, kill me!" But I'm thankful of the reality that it is just a movie. I like you, love the ones with great storylines! I loved "My Bloody Valentine" it has to be my favorite this year so far! lol I sure hope no scary killer comes from around a corner or couch after us!! I just notice how I tend to look away and scream, more than I used to, at the smallest things, it is comical too, believe me. lol.

Though the other night we watched gremlins at work and my co-worker and I made fun of the movie to no end. Cant believe I was so afraid of the movie when I was younger
| |
| |
|
|
| janette2009 (81) | 2 months ago | That movie is a classic! Along with Tremors! lol. I don't think I was ever afraid to watch those when I was younger, they weren't as bad as the others. Though, now, they do sorta remind me of those little furry things on the game "Chuzzle", only a more evil version, lol

| | | 8. truckergirl (13) | 2 months ago | Hi, I hate to tell you this, but, I have loved horror movies my whole life!! I Can still remeber my very first one.... the classic house on haunted hill!! my mom would not let my sister's and brother's let me see them, until I was around 8or9 years old. I loved it!!! and have been watching ever since. My favorite horror movies are those about haunted houses!! I watch ghost hunter's, ghost lab, destination truth, tha hauntings on discovery channel. I am sorry, you probably didnt want to ear this, But, I saw horror films and had to respond. Just remember, except for the shows that I mentioned, they are just movies..designed for entertainment. Don't Be Afraid!!

| janette2009 (81) | 2 months ago | I liked House on Haunted Hill as well. I know they aren't bad, and they're just movies. They just terrify me more than they used to. lol, but I still end up watching them and liking them, because of my mom and brother being big horror fans. My dad and uncle won't watch them either, lol. I think they're more into action movies. I love the ones about haunted houses too! I also really love GhostHunters! I've never watched the ones like ghost lab, destination truth, or the hauntings on the discovery channel, though I've noticed them, and I will check them out. The paranormal world is definitely something that fascinates me too! Those, I can really handle, its more the serial killers and stuff like that... thank you for commenting though! I'm glad you did.:)

| | 9. puddytatt (863) | 2 months ago | i can watch horror movies but like you i used to watch the same movies and i used to jump out of my skin, my fave movie was the exorcist, i know everyone has their own views on it, but because i had never seen anything like it, i was fascinated with the spinning head scene and the green puke scene, now i can watch it and just laugh my head off (pardon the pun) but back then, it scared the life out of me and i was too scared to sleep at night.
| |
| |
|
|
| janette2009 (81) | 2 months ago | lol, I've honestly never seen the exorcist. I liked the Exorcism of Emily Rose, but I've never seen the Exorcist movies with the green puke and spinning head, lol. I also love Rosemary's baby, and such stuff like that. My brother and mom won't even watch the Exorcist movies, lol, that's why I've never seen them.

|
|
puddytatt (863) | 2 months ago | well may i suggest this? IF you ever do watch the exorcist then make sure your not alone, it is pretty gruesome, and i mean you will jump out of your skin, back when it first got brought out it was on the cinema and people in the cinema were passing out with fright, seriously, it's very scary indeed, i have not seen rosemarys baby but i have heard that it's pretty full on, i must get that and see what it's like...
