Does your child have night terrors? |
|
Night terrors are an inherited disorder in which a child tends to have dreams during deep sleep from which it is difficult to awaken. Your child might look like he is awake but not.

2. OpinionatedLady (632) | 1 month ago | Not any more but when smaller my 8 year old had them bad. Usually they had something to do with Sesame Street, go figure. Cookie Monster scared her to pieces and any of the talking food she would have nightmares about going to eat something and it coming to life and biting her. She still will not eat a sandwich from a bad nightmare she had at 4. It's been almost 5 years and still she won't touch one.

4. jeanena (829) | 1 month ago | My oldest son use to have these frequently when he was little. We couldn't ever figure out what was causing his problems. It is so scary to have them screaming and looking right at you and knowing it wasn't you they were seeing. And not being able to get them to wake up.

| 5. bestmommy (38) | 1 month ago | I can remember this happening to my son when he was 3 or 4 years old. He would start screaming in his sleep and we would have to run into his room and wake him up. He was all sweaty and his heart was racing. I started using the baby monitor again so we could hear him as he started rolling around and struggling in his sleep. If we caught it as soon as we heard it and woke him quickly he wouldn't get so agitated. I too have dreams sometimes where I struggle to wake up but just can't open my eyes. My husband has to shake me to wake me up and I have to sstay awake for a few minutes or else I'll fall asleep quickly and fall back into the nightmare. Very scary for me, so I can only imagine how terrifying it must be for children.
