I feel really down right now:o( |
|
For nearly two years Ive worked 6 days a week and my day off consists of running around after the kids or other family members. None of them say thanks of course or show appreciation just more demands for more needs of their own to be put first. I know I should say no to work and the family, but they arent going to pay my bills and of course family is family.
By why is it that when you ask for them to help look after your 14 y/o son for a few days so you can go away and just have time out they all say no?
Now I have to tell my partner of 2 years that the holiday I promised to attend for at least 3 days, I now cant. We havent even spent a whole 24 hour period together since we started seeing each other since I have to do things all alone.
What hurts most is this 3 day trip has been planned for 6 months and all my family know about it and had agreed to help with the kids now its time, they all feel tired themselves and cant assist, funny none of them work though.
How selfish can people be:o(

At times when its the right moment give them a lecture of how hard life is right now and how easy they have it. Do they even say thanks when you give them food? If they dont im sorry, maybe you have to be more strict on them and give them chores. But only if w\you want less of a burden. Hope This helped. Happy MyLotting!

Ruralchook (362) | 2 months ago | Surprisingly I was a strict mum, but within reason of course. The kids have become teenagers and just expect things to be handed out. They understand my finances dont allow things but they'll try any ways.
When it comes to chores, its now hard to enforce them, because I work evenings so arent home to make sure they are done.
I wish they were babies again, it was so much easier.

2. Trensue (1267) | 2 months ago | It sounds like it is time for someone to runaway. That means hiring a sitter and doing what is best for you. I understand work, they pay your bills. Family on the other hand needs to learn that if they show no respect and gratitude they lose privileges. So hire a sitter and take off. No need to tell the selfish people where you are going and don't answer their calls.

Ruralchook (362) | 2 months ago | Unfortunately I live realy remote so there arent any sitters in town to hire.
I agree with what you say about my family, I wont be saying anything any more.
It really got to me when my mum rang to ask when I was visiting next, she though it was tonight not next month, she needs help and to borrow things of course. The thing is I never planned on visiting, I had planned to go to the same town to have an operation at 5am then come straight home so I could rest grr. Her best suggestion was to get my partner to change his holidays until a later time next year when I could maybe get time off again and get a sitter, if not maybe his 90 y/o parents who live in a nursing home could take him, now even I laughed at that one.

3. cutepenguin (3723) | 2 months ago | That's so frustrating! I hope you keep that in mind in the future when they ask you for help. I know it's good to be helpful, but at the same time, if you don't take good care of yourself and have occasional days off, that's not fair to you.
How old are your kids? Can they be left alone for 2 days? I know my parents went away for a week at a time when I was a kid, having an aunt stay with us, but when I was 17 they did leave us by ourselves. (my youngest sibling was 14 at the time). We were okay, although we did eat pizza for dinner 3 of the nights and spaghetti the other nights. (I have a limited repertoire for cooking).
