Did Your Company Where You Work Have Policy Of Blocking Site?

O I see, well yes, in school it is even more unfair since i don't think accessing social networking site will take a lot of time. In my college years, the Campus actually never block any web site at all, expect, the adult site off course. So the most time i really enjoy internet is to access it from the campus. And it is even have the fastest speed that i ever met. I think it is about 10 mbps. ( It is quite a fast connection in my country ), because most of house computer usually only have speed about 500 kbps to 1 mbps ( bit not Byte ). Thanks for responding in this discussion.

Yes, i am very agree with you. Why bother? If we can finish all our job, then there is nothing wrong with playing a social networking site once in a while to relieve some stress. Anyway, even if they block the site, every body has their own way to slacking off. So it is doesn't really matter at all. But i agree with adult site or malware site should be block since it is really are not inappropriate to access it from office. Thanks for responding to this very discussion. LOL, you sure have a bad luck with work. I will feel so bored if i don't have internet access from the office since some time i have a lot of free time in office. Off course there also time where i must stay in the office until late of night. Anyway thanks for responding to this discussion.

I can still acess to Yahoo Messenger since I am Coordinator in my work place. Also Company Email as well.

Well good for you, i am actually cannot access yahoo messenger. They block some port so i cannot access it. But i can bypass this by using a trillian messenger. It use proxy and process more slowly than yahoo messenger, but at least with it i can chat with my friend. Thanks for sharing your experience with us.

Well good for you. But since you are at IT Company, internet is a very important part of it's employee. It is different from my company which not work at it business. But still, even if they block the facebook and other site in other dept, the it dept still able to access the site. It is why many actually angry by this policy because it seem not really fair.

Yes, i like that kind of policy. It doesn't matter what site we visit, as long as it not an adult site, and also not disturb our job and with visiting that site we still able to meet our deadline finishing our job, they shouldn't feel really bother at all. Thanks for responding to this discussion.

Well, maybe every person has different view about think. It just simply sad if they block facebook because they afraid of security risk since now, a tools like blackbery and gprs/ 3g/ 3.5g is common and people still can do facebook anytime they want. But still, i really prefer to use facebook from PC instead accessing it from mobile device.

Wow, that is so sad. I think a company shouldn't block any news site since their employee actually need news too. With knowing what happened in the world/ country many people can decide what to do with their job. Anyway, that is a very bad policy i think. Thanks for responding.

Well it is good to hear that. It is fun to have a freedom like you have. What important is getting our work done. After our work done, we can use whatever we want we our free time, and accessing internet is one of them. I just hope my company start to think that way too.

O i see, well i know it is kinda mean, but i actually glad knowing that i have a better office policy then you ( well it is actually human nature ). Anyway, i agree with you, why install the internet and pay them every month if they gonna block most site anyway.

Yes, the IT dept is kinda in a harsh position since they actually want everybody to keep accessing facebook, but at the same time, the higher up want them to make sure the employee couldn't have access to the facebook. Anyway, too bad for you not to be able to access facebook at office hour since usually you will see a lot of people complaining about their job at that hour in facebook.

Well, it doesn't matter to me at all. I don't really care what they are complaining about their jobs on Facebook during office hours because I could still read all those status later. I know it's a way of de-stress oneself, but sometimes if every little thing they want to whine and update on their walls, it is as if they are working with Facebook instead of clearing their workloads.

Yes, well every body has their own way to relieve it's stress and every one can do a different thing to having fun. I and most people usually like to see other whine about their job, and give comment about it, a funny comment that will make the smile. If i do that after work hour, usually the time is off and my comment seem less interesting anymore since they not in that position anymore. Anyway, thanks for responding to this discussion.
