These are the pods of cocao beans from cacao trees. The white things are the actual cacao seeds and as they are left to ferment the chocolate flavour becomes enriched. So yes, chocolate does grow on trees.

Yes, they are called chocolate trees in this country not cocoa. I do not know them as cocoa. They are picked and dried and then grated for a chocolate drink. I have done this myself. Of course there are other procedures and products added to make the creamy chocolate that you so enjoy. But chocolate does grow on trees. Sparks was correct with the photograph, as that is how they look when picked.

As for money growning on trees, my kids figure that I can fart fifties and poop hundred dollar bills, so according to them money doesn't grow on trees.

Chocolate is actually a veggie and not candy? hmmmmmm......I'm gonna have to bring that up to my diabetic nutritionist when I talk to her next time. According to her, I can't have it cause it's candy. I can, though, if it's a veggie.
