I neglected my AC account for very long time. |
|
It is more than 3 years since I joined AC. That time, I somehow had the feeling that AC was not paying for non-US residents. Later this year, I learned that I can earn through page views for articles and not for upfront payments. So posted few articles there in the past few weeks and I am surprised to see my page views rise. I am happy but I guess it may be very long to see my first payment.

scheng1 (1648) | 4 weeks ago | Hi Zed, I guess the $1.50 click from the Adsense in Hubpages beat the first payment from AC. The thing in AC is that you can create more page views by making comments to other articles in AC. Some writers get the bulk of earnings from internal readers. You can see from the number of comments they have for an article. Some writers have an average of 30 comments for an article. My readers come mainly from search engines, thanks to the effort in seo.

mommaj (1018) | 4 weeks ago | SEO definitely plays a big part. So does commenting on others work. Usually, you can find writers that do page view for page view. I always try to do it. Sometimes, you don't always get the emails telling you about new comments so you can respond. For the most part, it's accurate though. I don't really have an internal following either, most of my readers are from outside sources. Don't understand that considering the amount of Favorites I have. LOL

zed_k4 (4248) | 4 weeks ago | Nishdan, the minimum payout for page views is $1.50 for every 1000 page views you have. Roughly like that. I don't know how they count, but my first payment from AC was $2++ ... I don't know how they count. Now, my page views are nearing to a thousand again, so I might be able to get a 2nd payout. I think AC rocks totally because it's like amazing; how you can just submit say 10 articles and let them earn residual.
Scheng, you are right.. I do have some awesome friends there, and we kind of comment to one another. I am trying my very best to be active there, and lately, I have been concentrating on AC more. I'm going to have to let Hubpages slide for awhile, because I have my blogs on Adsense for that.. so I shall concentrate on AC for a bit..
Thanks, mommaj.. that's true, actually. I find myself looking through manually for comments because there have been some which I don't receive, but mostly they are there, like you said. So far, I've been having internal following and some, which I believe from outside.
You are right, ladies. It all boils down to the right keywords and the right kind of articles to write. But sometimes, I just write from the heart, not caring for the keywords so much, LOL..

scheng1 (1648) | 4 weeks ago | Page views computation is based on the loading of the advertisements. All the advertisements must load, then it will be counted as one page view. If you have 2 pages in an article, and a reader reads the 2 pages, add a comment, you gain three page views. That is provided they dont have ad blocking software. That is why commenting is important. It's an extra page view, and most people wait for ad to load to see how the comment turns out. Many writers aim to write a 2 to 3 pages articles, so that they can get more page views. Using short paragraphs can help to achieve that. During the time when AC has ad loading problems, many writers find the page views go down 20% to 30%. There is one writer, Donald something, said that his performance bonus went down by $500, from $2,000 to $1,500. He's good at writing news, and can upload ten articles per day. Another thing to consider is that AC has indexing problem with search engines. Many articles are not even indexed. It is better to display the articles in AC to other writing sites, such as Bukisa. Bukisa works on the same principle, at $3.45 per 1,000 page views. commenting is adding extra page views as well. Bukisa has one great point, it shows the traffic source and the keywords the reader uses to locate the article. However, Bukisa does not divide a long article into many different pages.

zed_k4 (4248) | 4 weeks ago | Valuable information as always. Thanks for the Bukisa recommend.. I'll try to juggle with AC first.. and see how. Actually, it feels like home too there, just like mylot, and to get to a new site and interact with others again, I feel a bit too old for that, LOL. But you have given some great tips there. No wonder I see many people having 3-4 pages of articles, but they can really write and they know their stuff truly well.

2. scheng1 (1648) | 4 weeks ago | Hi Nishdan, might as well you rewrite your old articles and post them in AC and Bukisa. The page view payments can go up quite fast if you promote internally and externally. If you have old essays from schools, you can post there as well. I repost all the articles from Helium to AC without rewriting a single word. I have some economics theories article doing quite well in AC. My target readers are students taking Economics. I'm bored to death writing those articles, glad to see the earnings now. Both sites are making passive income for me. At first, the passive income is almost the same. Now Helium is doing better, almost $10 more than AC this month.

nishdan01 (2341) | 4 weeks ago | Thanks for a detailed response. I do post my Helium articles at AC, but not in Bukisa. I will give that a try now.Even you gave me a tip on how to draw readers and thanks for that.

3. AnythngArt (1668) | 4 weeks ago | I dropped out of Associated Content for quite some time myself, then eventually found my way back and have been making money there, albeit slowly. They pay for page views once a month (on the second Wednesday of the month) via PayPal. I am not sure what the minimum is but I know that I have been paid when it was as little as $3 or so. Even now, my page view money is under $10, and I still get the money every month.
Like any site, the more articles you have posted, the better the SEO, the more friends who read your articles, and the more interaction with the outside world (via social networking sites, and Twitter, for example), the better you will do.
Good luck with your writing! Hope you make payout!

4. paintswithwords (242) | 3 weeks ago | As there is no minimum payment for page views you should see a payment every month. I started out with pageview payments at only a dollar and some odd change and it goes up every month.
Do not rule out upfront payments. Though they are more scarce then they use to be, AC will still pay upfront payments for articles. Subject matter is important. How to articles are still good for a payment if the article is well done and on a subject that you may not find on every other blog you read.
For example, I wrote an article on painting plastic parts for automobile parts. I offered it to AC for exclusive rights and they paid me five dollars for it.
It is just that they have become more selective with articles for upfront payments and they like it if it is given to them for exclusive rights.

nishdan01 (2341) | 3 weeks ago | I ma not eligible for upfront payments as I am not a U.S resident now.So I will have to be satisfied with pageviews. I have posted 6 articles and you can see my articles by clicking on AC link in my Mylot profile.

paintswithwords (242) | 3 weeks ago | Oh, did not realize it was only for U.S.. The performance payments start to add up, especially if you connect your account with twitter and/or facebook. I will take a look at your articles. I have been writing for them since 2007, though not as much as I use to...Good luck to you.

5. Canellita (3160) | 3 weeks ago | I joined AC shortly after I signed up at helium. It took me a little while to figure out helium and start getting rating and then writing stars. Once I understood it though I started earning right away and made payout after only two months. At AC I have not put the same effort in as helium so I am only at clout 3 and I have yet to earn a cent.
At helium as long as you have a rating star you can earn from page views. If you have 1 writing star you can earn upfronts and bonuses. I find it easier to earn at helium.

nishdan01 (2341) | 3 weeks ago | Many small articles were not leapfroged and hence was deleted. So my writing score is down too. I guess that would be another 200 articles.

Canellita (3160) | 3 weeks ago | Wow, that is pretty prolific! I would like to get to 300 articles. I am going in slow motion at this time though.

6. Bebs08 (2481) | 3 weeks ago | You are in the right place. AC is really the best. I am a contributor in this site since 2007 but I am inactive now. But then I am receiving my pay out every month from my page views even if I have only 30 plus articles. I just promote my articles everywhere and I got lots of page views from search engines. I like AC very much and I would tell you, be active in there.
