Do you believe what is being reported in the press today? I recently watched a documentary about how American Presidents manipulate the media to justify their action such as going to war in Iraq. The name of this documentary was "War made easy - How Presidents & Pundits keep spinning us to death". This really opened my eyes. It showed how those who were right in their assessment of the situation at the time were shunned and belittled for opposing the official view. If this is the case as to how you see it, where do you get the news, the truth?

Coming from Hawaii originally, I have learned to live among a variety of people. I have also been able to travel some and live in different countries. I found that people all over are generally friendly. They are just like you and me. They have the same concerns. It is unfortunate that just a few blow it (literally) for others. For more info on the movie go to: warmadeeasythemovie.org About Al Jazeera, they seem to be the BBC of the Middle East. But I will give it a shot! Thanks!!!

I have a tendency to believe the slant towards the party which I think will lead us to destruction the slowest! I can see how much my country, the u.s. has changed, and some of the reflection of those changes are on the television, in magazines, etc, etc. I realize I may be a little idealistic, but I think of "Leave it to Beaver" and "Father Knows Best" and what I see today, well, rather shocks me (also lots of teen sitcoms and movies on being witches and wizards). To me the quickest route to collapse (apocalypse I guess you could call it) is the mass terminations of the unwanted preborn. It's a lotta blood on the land.. Can't be good 'karma'.
- I remember the news reports of how so many nation's intelligence agencies figured there were weapons of mass death in Iraq (I even got the impression later on that Saddam thought he had 'em! If I was one of his generals, don't know as it'd be me that told him otherwise..) I always did distrust the media's coverage of the previous administration.. and when I see the strange goings on in Europe and, if I could think of the name of the town, here in the u.s. where the churches quit ringing any bells so the Muslim population wouldn't be offended and the Muslim call to prayer is over the speakers five times a day (don't hear that on the news) .. Now I find the call to prayer to be a very pleasant sound, myself, but I don't see why the bells can't ring too..

I remember growing up one block away from a Buddhist temple. They would start their service at 6am every morning. I think they were banging on a drum of some kind. I recalled not liking it at first but I grew to like it. I have stood in Jeddah Saudi Arabia at pray time and watch the city magically transform into a kind of peace that was very inviting. Now come to think of it I have not heard the bells either. I would also like to hear the bells. Thank for responding flowerchilde.

hi benhilo, I don't follow it all as much from here as I used to when in the UK but there I was a news junkie. Basically I took anything with a pinch of salt which the mainstream broadcasts used as news as it just reported without any analysis behind it. I don't want to see a speech made by a prime minister and treated as the truth of world events and would always look for investigative journalism for the real news behind the news. We did have some excellent late night news anaysis progrmammes by those who weren't politically biased, plus some excellent and respected journalists. But mainstream forget it, how can a BBC which is reliant on a Government tax for its service possibly be imparial or criticise the government line throughly. There were always those who had earned respect for their views though to be taken seriously and who dug behind the mass media version of events. That is probably one reason why the outrage Americans felt at the release of the alleged Libyian bomber was so different to the UK attitude to the event of his release, because many had openly questioned the government version of the truth from the start. Obviously there are lots of newspapers which wouldn't know an original thought if it was drawn out for them, and they do have a large following, but certainly the UK has a much stronger history of disregarding the main view.

Like you in my younger days I followed the news religiously. Then I started to notice small discrepancies. But the clincher, when I was living overseas in the Middle East and met a individual who was involved in a news event that was reported no where near what was said in the western media. I also noticed that country I was in did not report any problems or crimes that were happening on the streets. Keeping up appearances I guess. Thanks again for your enlightening response thea09!

I don't believe all of what the news channel I like reports, much less what the rest of them do. The media have their own agenda. Observe how they belittled Bush and praised Obama for doing the exact same thing. Who made them do that? I don't know... I sometimes wonder if there is anyone who will tell or even knows the truth.

Saviour-V teleports in...

It's become even more difficult to trust the media these days. In fact, I've got a friend working for a major newspaper here in Malaysia, and even she's EXASPERATED that she can't publish the truth about anything that happens here.

There's just so much obscuring going on, and so many sycophants eager to please those in power, that truth is getting more difficult to find. In fact, it's robbing the youth of today of their innocence.

Well, that's my rant in here...^_^;

Saviour-V bows, and teleports out...
