Why anime not popular like other interest?

I guess since it's animated, some people think that it's just another kids cartoon. So, it's harder to find discussions about it or finding people who are interested in it unless the forum itself specifically centers around discussing anime. But then again, I actually do go to a forum that's anime-specific, but even then not a whole lot of anime is being discussed. I don't know, I guess people would rather watch than discuss it.

I like naruto shippuden. Its a shame jiraiya died though...

Is it not popular? Most kids like watching anime, I mean, in our country even local channels are bombarded by these Japanese cartoons so it's pretty popular. Maybe the reason why it's not popular like other interests because most people who are in ages 20++ have no interest in them. The reason is maybe because they did not grow on the age of anime.

Well, anime has it's own little niche community so you hardly ever anything about it in various public forums. You'd actually have to go to an anime forum. That's where most of the people hang out at. I think you're just not visiting the right forums. There are quite a few of them out there with thousands of members and lots of activity. And most public forums are way to generalized so even if someone were to bring up the topic about anime it would be a general one.

I love anime too.. I think there is a very large community of people who loves anime. I have seen many fansites on web about naruto. Its like you can see anime loving people almost everywhere.. I'm big fan of naruto. Also I have seen all type of aged people from 20-35yrs old still eagerly watching anime.

I think it's because you have to endure so much bad to get to the good with anime. I love it, but I see why others don't.
1. Story lines are often so convoluted that you have to be really dedicated to actually get them.
2. There's no safety in anime plot. You could very easily watch 50 episodes and be sure it will end well only to see everyone die and the world blow up...perfect, roll credits. In American fiction it is easier to feel out how things will go, at least if it will be a sad or happy story.
3. Localization. Sometimes I am left thinking "the original writers could not have meant that." Much of the eloquence in the writing is often lost in translation.
4. In some shows like Bleach there are times when I almost feel embarrased watching it. When the characters go into that 'a five year old drew and directed this scene' mode where everyone is screeching and bopping each other on the head, I always turn down the volume so no one will hear:-)
Basically, I just think most anime is an acquired taste.

Hmm.. many people are mostly into making money so categories like make extra money is very popular here. I think most people hanging out here are not as into anime as people like us.

I think it's because most anime fans go to anime specific forums to talk. Not because there isn't an audience.
