If you were a teacher, will you encourage your students to join here? |
|
Just came up to this idea. What if a teacher encourage his/her students to join here to help them improve their writing skills and also for them to earn extra money, aside from that, they can also learn some interesting information. And in return, he/she will also earn because the teacher have his/her students as referrals What would be your opinion for this?

1. redphile (285) | 4 weeks ago | i think its possible, as long as they post quality discussions and articles. But i wouldnt encourage them to stay here too much, because mylot is addicting and they may not have enough time to study haha!

| drewojeda (88) | 4 weeks ago | Yes, you're right that Mylot is so addicting. You have so much to learn by joining here. If I'm a teacher I would encourage my students to join, I'll just warn them a few things. But overall I think mylot will be beneficial that aside from that you earn some cash you enhance your basic capabilities of writing and communicating. I'm really having fun being here.

3. amybrezik (1085) | 4 weeks ago | I might. I think the discussions can be very enlightening. You are correct that it could possibly help with writing skills. You can gain a lot of knowledge from reading these discussions as well. I might be worried that some of the discussions might be to adult for my students but I believe there are precautions for things like that on this website.

boogerman (842) | 4 weeks ago | You have a point. But it can be avoided by telling them not to check on the box labeled 'allow mature content'. It blocks users from reading discussions with words that considered as mature content, they can only view those discussions when they allow it on their preferences. But there are times where you need to allow it. Example, when you are discussing about a part of a chicken (bre*st) on cooking, users that block mature content cannot view that discussion. Sorry for late reply, I got disconnected.

amybrezik (1085) | 4 weeks ago | Yes, you can avoid the mature content that's for sure. It is a litte annoying when you are responding to a cooking discussion and you have to use an alternative word for chicken brea*t. But at the same time I am glad to know that there are precautions in place, and I think overall mylot could be a great tool for students.

4. irene66 (270) | 4 weeks ago | I would. It's a great idea for students for them express their ideas and opinions. Also a learning experience not only in their writing but in their typing skills too. However, they should know how to manage their time so that mylot will not interfere with their time schedule in school and their studies.

5. kindy198636 (351) | 4 weeks ago | I don't think so, if I'm a teacher, I won't tell my students about this place, I'm worrying that they may addicted to mylot, and spend a lot of time here, because this just happens to me , so I don't think it's good for their study, and this place can also earn money, the students will spend a lot of time here to post discussions, and earn money, this is not good for their study.

| 6. wolfbyte18 (74) | 4 weeks ago | I would not. While I agree that myLot is a valuable experience as far as writing and typing skills are concerned (plus, you get to stay up to date on the news!), it's simply unprofessional for a teacher to do that. You need to maintain the professional teacher:student relationship.

7. shajerrl (270) | 4 weeks ago | I also have a similar thought about this just a few days ago...I think if I am a teacher, maybe I can let my students come to here for a test to evaluate their English skills. I will give them 7 days to make their posting number from 0 to 100 and mylot website will give their reputation automatically according to their DRS system, according to their reputation, maybe I can know their english skills for every students...thanks and good day...

8. hmrk12 (365) | 4 weeks ago | I will recommend my students to join here if I am a teacher. They can have exposure to the external world by participating in the discussion. The will be able to understand the world what it is...Also they can earn little at least for their pocket money..But the major issue is they may be diverted into the ptc sites, which will spoil their life without any doubt. We can not control them in this. On seeing the discussions about the ptc sites, they will like to earn without any effort and in turn, then will make their friends to get addicted to the ptc sites, in order to get referrals..Interesting discussion.

9. getbrowser (1438) | 4 weeks ago | I think it is possible completely. You see, here are lots of people whose mother tongue is not English, however, they really love mylot for they can enjoy a friendly surroundings that are helpful to improve their English level. As you have said above, if a teacher encourage his/her students to join here to help them improve their writing skills, these students benefit a lot from myLot. In fact, they can earn some money here while improving their writing skills. Of course, the teacher should take some measures to protect their students from being addicted to the Internet. Happy myLotting!

10. UltimateAsoka (870) | 4 weeks ago | Well, i do not find any harm in asking the students to join mylot. It would also help them to earn and also improve their vocabulary.Their writing skills and speed would increase.I think it would be an encouragement for the students and they could get more involved with current happenings.I would not be thinking of the monetary benefits, and would be considering whats benficial for them and in this case even if mylot don't pay, they would improve a lot. Thanks!
