Procalamation 1808-A declaring back that Nov 27 is not a National Holiday. email this discussion to a friend?

About a week ago there was a proclamation that Nov 27 would be declared a national holiday for Muslim holiday Eid'l Adha. I have read the proclamation why they were declaring this a national holiday. By declaring it, it means that we would have a 4 day long weekend on Nov 27-30 since Nov 30 was also a national holiday being National Heroes day or Bonifacio Day. But as I was browsing Yahoo I read that there is a new proclamation declaring that they are reversing the proclamation back again to Regional Holiday meaning that Nov 27 would not be a National holiday anymore and only those in the ARMM will enjoy this holiday.

Although it is still a long holiday I think there are many who will be disappointed with this new proclamation as the very long holiday is shortened by 1 day.

I am pissed about this to say the least. This is quite disheartening to know given that the Muslim population in our country is no longer isolated in the ARMM region. So, I can't understand this at all. hayy, just one of the negative implications for all those typhoons coming in to the economy. glare

Well I am a bit diappointed too. Good thing is that I have no plans what to do on that day yet. Well I guess the employers have been the ones that influenced GMA to getting back on her proclamation since they are telling her that is is not productive anymore having so many holidays declared for the past weeks and months.

I know, especially with the cancellation of work that had to be made due to the recent typhoon. but at least we can have a break off on the 30th, which is a legal holiday. thumbup

Oh really. That's sad. Anyhow, why didn't they post it in the newspapers?

myLot reputation of 88/100. rsa101 (7434)   ranked 39 out of 4,265 in philippines  2 months ago

I think they had just declared it today so expect it to be released to the papers tomorrow. I accidentally read it on Yahoo Philippines and was a bit sad to know about it.

Well I am not really disappointed but I hate confusing news like this. I mean they have already declared and then they will retract. I mean they bringing in confusions to people. They should first make sure of anything they want to declare before announcing it in the papers. angry

Yes that really disappoints me about that changing proclamations but I guess employers are the one that are complaining since they are saying that too much of this work stoppages damages their productivity and the cost becomes more expensive for them to survive. I guess this time GMA heeds their call to change her mind about it.

I just read something about that a while ago... and i must say that i am a little disappointed... i was looking forward to a long holiday... but i guess we all have to make do with the 3 days we will get this November... what i don't like is that the government seem to be fickle minded when it comes to declaring holidays... hope this won't happen again...

myLot reputation of 88/100. rsa101 (7434)   ranked 39 out of 4,265 in philippines  2 months ago

I think it was the employers that requested a change in her proclamation. Well I think GMA found a reason behind it that is why she retracted her former proclamation. Oh well it is still a long weekend minus 1 day I think that would do.

That's good. The government should stop pandering to these Muslim savages. I hate them! They should be driven out to Indonesia and Malaysia where they belong. (Yes, I'm from Mindanao.)

Easy borg queen you're too harsh on them, why not just claim Sabah and give it to them, after all, Sabah is suppose to be part of the Philippines. Cheers!

Well, you weren't there in 2000 when they blocked the roads on both ends of our town stranding dozens of buses and vehicles. Fortunately the military was swift to drive them away. You weren't there last year when our town cancelled our fiesta just 3 days before the event due to concerns about attacks due to the MOA. This is the first time in more than half a century of our town's existence that we didn't celebrate it.

I blame the Americans for this. If only they converted those savages back then. We wouldn't have a Muslim insurgency. At least the Spanish would have. (Aanakan ka pa nila para gumanda ang anak mo. O, diba ang saya-saya?) This is one of the reasons why I hate them. I hate Americans. I hate Protestants. I hate American Protestants! angry

Before they declared a Holiday they should think twice, after announcing it, then they will recall that declaration, it seems they are fooling the people. Or there a big reason for that.

myLot reputation of 88/100. rsa101 (7434)   ranked 39 out of 4,265 in philippines  2 months ago

You are right about that. The big reason behind that is explained in my previous post. The employers are the one complaining that their productivity is affected by the so many holidays declared in the past. I think the Palace didn't expect this so many holidays due to the typhoons/death of historical people etc etc.

True, if ARMM do observe christian holidays why limit muslim holidays to ARMM only? If we are to be one then we have to celebrate as one. If they decided to declare the said holiday as working holiday because of the typhoons that's fine with me but if it's otherwise then they have to think it over again. Cheers!

myLot reputation of 88/100. rsa101 (7434)   ranked 39 out of 4,265 in philippines  2 months ago

That is I think that was the essence of the first proclamation of declaring it a national holiday but because of the calamities that has stricken plus the additional holidays that were declared because of Cory Aquino's Death and INC's founder burial too which was declared a holiday as well. With the onslaught of the several typhoons that visited us, the employers are now saying too much of the holidays since it impedes their productivity and the cost of wages are distorted because of these holidays. I think they were forced to reverse their proclamation which when they declared it last April of this year they were not expecting this calamities to be coming. Oh well it is still a long vacation since Monday is still a holiday.

i am also not disappointed if this is true. but what else can we expect from the people in the palace? they really don't think twice with this kind of proclamations. i hate to hear the kids saying they are disappointed, not only that the said date was a holiday, but also with a lot of bad decisions made by the administrations. angry

myLot reputation of 88/100. rsa101 (7434)   ranked 39 out of 4,265 in philippines  2 months ago

Well I heard in Tv interview that the declaration of this proclamation was made April of this year. They never expected that there are so many disruptions and holidays in August, Sep and October because of the calamities and holidays of leaders that passed away. I think they were not able to anticipate it and it is hurting for the businessman in their productivity too.

Well we dont need too much holiday because there people affected during this days because they wont earn something for that day.

And about the ARMN im happy that they are the once only celebrating that because we are not Muslims... I would love to share the Gospel of Christ with muslim people...have a good day! God bless

myLot reputation of 88/100. rsa101 (7434)   ranked 39 out of 4,265 in philippines  2 months ago

Well thinking on the other side of things, we do not have to be disappointed at all because it is a Muslim festivities. They were given their own holidays too for them to enjoy and celebrate that occasion. But, for some it was a disappointing time for them as they have plans already for that very long holiday.

As for me, it is still a long weekend to me since Monday is still declared holiday so there's nothing to complain really. happy

Yes, i think there are a lot of people dissapointed with that. As it has been declared early,i am sure a lot of people has made plans for that long weekend for family outings or the like. I know that it is a lose to casual employees and to companies or factories that would be affected by the long vacation. But still, i think that a lot of people are really dissppointed by the reversal. Anyway, i know that here in Tarlac Nov. 27 is a local holiday. I guess we still have the chance to enjoy the long weekend afterall.

myLot reputation of 88/100. rsa101 (7434)   ranked 39 out of 4,265 in philippines  2 months ago

Wow it seems you people from Tarlac would indeed enjoy the "very" long holiday. Well I think it still is a long holiday since it is until the Monday that we have no work. I think the government had to swallow the bitter pill of reversing back their original proclamation. I can understand their point now because of the many calamities that happened in our place I think we need to make up for those lost working days due to typhoon and declared holidays due to death of Cory and the INC founding leader.
