has anyone found new ways to live frugal, i have been trying to come up with new ways because right now most of our money is going to fix our van that got rexked so i have been trying to find ways to save money so we can go on vaccation when summerf comes and we would like to have money put away for things that may come up,, i amso want to reach my own personal goal of having $500 saved in my own account by the end of this year, so i am doing my best on that goal, i also have other goals as well so thats another reason i am looking for ways to live frugal.

1. peavey (3763) | 1 month ago | What ways do you use already? We could probably come up with some more, but not knowing what you already do makes it hard. I would suggest that you read frugal living sites, blogs and forums for ideas. Meantime...
Use generic brands, don't shop until you really have to, don't drive unless you really, really have to (keep the car parked to save gas), cook from scratch, don't waste money by racking up overdue fees or parking tickets, if you need something, first ask if you can substitute something else and if you can't, see if you can find it second hand.

2. cutepenguin (3709) | 1 month ago | Hey, I am doing this as a challenge. So far I have unplugged my tv (mostly because I watch too much tv), I am clipping coupons, I am paying off debt, I am hang drying clothes, etc.

3. cher913 (13533) | 1 month ago | hey good for you! you can start by planning your meals and shopping accordingly with those meals. soups and stews are filling and not that expensive to make for meals. i make all my own desserts. i can get cake mix on sale for 99 cents!

For most people the most elastic part of your budget is groceries. I'd start there. One thing I do is have a 'soup night' every week. Soup is dirt cheap, feeds everybody, and smells great while it's cooking. It can be as simple as a couple of broth cubes, a bit of rice, left over veggies. A bit of leftover wine if you have it. And a great loaf of bread!
