Every night that i am at home after putting the children to bed i have been so that i can not relax. The reason that i can not relax is i have six children and one of them which is my 7 year old son will not settle down to go to sleep.I can not watch the tv,talk on the phone, talk to a friend if they turn up and have to keep up and down the stairs all night.Anyone else have nights that they can not relax all the time?

But when your son is better at least you will get back to a sleep pattern then, where as my son is not ill.

thankfully my son only wakes once or twice a night normally, but that's just to quickly sort out the bed covers so he can get back to sleep,is there nothing the doctor can do for your son to help him sleep properly,he must be exhausted aswell

Maybe he will soon be sleeping downstairs, this fiesty 7-year old. You are a mom, not a slave, maybe if you think it through you can find some better way of handling his needs that will serve your needs as well. If not, this could still be happening when he is 17. Good luck.

That's my every night Jugs! My girls are co-sleepers from heck! I want to break them of it but hubby won't always cooperate in doing this. He moves so she can come into bed and then I have to climb over 3 bodies if our son is crying. Sadly, I hate going to bed @ 8-8:30 but what can I do? Unless they are really tired I"m outta luck in sneaking out for more than an hour or so w/o them lookig for me. By the time they are out cold, I'm too tired to concentrate on my crochet I mess up. SO then I just come online or watch the news for a bit.

That's all one can do is hope they grow out of it. Though my SIL has slept with her kids since they were small & then when she got married that was the only time they were out of her bed & since she's been widowed she's got any of the follwing in her bed a 11yo, an almost 13yo (she has seizures though), & a 14.5yr old all girls. I would hope once my kids were that age it would be embarassing for them to say sorryI can't sleep over @ your house... I have to sleep w/ my mommy. Ironically I was talking to my friend while we were waiting for the kids to get out of school as far as night lights ect to keep them in their room. I haven't been able to ditch DD1 since DD2 was in utero & DD2 is 4yrs old. Plus hubby works with dangerous machinery so he needs his sleep so I'd rather sleep with them then him loose a limb or finger cause he's tired. I dunno I feel really trapped on this one!! & Super Nanny's tatics one must have the nerves of steel to be so consistant and not give in. I don't think I could sit up every night all night til they got the idea they had to sleep on their own. I VALUE MY SLEEP!

My husband and I do not yet have children, so if we're up late at night it's just because we can't sleep. We tend to usually be able to relax, we play our video game systems at night if we can, or we're here on mylot. It helps us to relax, I think.

oh yes I have to admit, lately I have been worried over every issue about my family, my own life, and I think I can think of many things to worry about, so they all keep me restless at night. I wake in the middle of the night on top of that for now reason.

Not usually is my night sleep affected except that I go to bed late due to either work, computer or reading. If some one is sick in the family then I will be awake taking care of them. However my children are grown up so no question of running behind them.

wow jugsjugs no wonder you cannot relax, six kids all so young how do you do it? I had two and it kept me busy. well here I am elderly and am in a bedroom with a roommate who has the unfortunate thing of talking in the middle of the night when she cannot sleep.which wakes me up then I cannot fall back asleep. if she just would not talk when she wakes up in the middle of the night.

I used to have those kind of nights. I used to have guardianship of my granddaughter and had alot of trouble with her. She got to a point where she would wait until I was asleep at night and then she would sneak out. There are several things that you can do to help your son get to sleep. I used to lay down with my grandson and talk to him in a low voice while rubbing his head. He would go right out. Have you had him tested for hyperactivity or manic cycles? It might be a good idea. Some times kids just have these times where they can't get to sleep. There may be other problems or it might be just natural. Do you bathe him just before bed? Warm wather and that lavender scent in the bath can be very relaxing. Some kids just fight sleep.

Sometimes definately. When there are too many thoughts going through ones mind you will find that the ability to relax is something which can be very tedious. People will find that there are many moments when relaxation can come, but even when they are infront of you it is still possible to not be able to grasp those opportunities. Restlessness is a reason for not being able to relax. What is important is to realize that no matter what happens the present is the present and the past is the past. You will never miss one day of working or worrying. But you will miss one day of relaxation, so therefore it is important to take the time in order to do so.
