Smoking is a nasty habit....................

How can you be around them? I go outside after my daughter has had a cigaretter and it is horrible. I cough like I am a long time smoker. What do you do?

Oh, I will walk away from where they are smoking. They are usually respectful of my space

That is a good thing. Something my mom used to struggle with alot. People respected your space.

You are lucky! I smoked as a social thing. Never for very long and always stopped when not out.

It seems you had it under control. Me, I used to dream that I was eating cigarettes, a very odd and scary dream, so hence I don't even like holding a cigarette now, let alone throwing them away in the trash! yuck! My mother would make me do that, and she never understood that it was so gross to me, and made me want to hurl!

Eating cigarettes! Ugh! Did someone hypnotize you at sometime you weren't aware of? I think I would wonder. Weirder dreams have been had though I suspect.

hypnotized? I don't know... now weirder dreams from me? Yes I sure enough have had worse or weirder dreams. There was a recurring dream I had of myself and my sister or sometimes my brother out in a neighborhood and trying to find my grandparents, there was one house we kept going to that looked similar but backwards!

No, I don't smoke but most people around me do.

The reason is I saw to many that had smoked for years stop smoking and they died shortly after one was my moms dad.
so I wont quit doctors gave up on me stopping

children try and do it here. they hang around shops and try to cadge them off customers. brats.

I over heard a young man ask my daughter(who smokes) for a cigarette earlier today and even offered her his ID.

these ones are a bit younger. 12 usually. or less.

Not on at all. How can a 12 year old possibly afford cigarettes and any that tried it round here would get a quick clip around the ear from absolutely anyone passing. The children area allowed to go in the shop and buy them though, no ID or anything, but the shopkeepers will generally know who they are for by the brand.

You'd be surprised what young kids can afford now days. They don't buy their lunches and use their allowances and have very ugly minded people buy them for them. I used to panhandle for money when I was young.

Oh carp...my other sil just quit recently as well. I had forgotten about her!

That is really great! I wish my daughter could quit. She has tried several times and can quit for awhile but not for good. I think cold turkey is the best way.

I do too! And I especially do not like it when there is a new born or small child in the midst of alot of cigarette smoke. It really makes me mad!

I am glad it worked for both of them. I think it is different for each person. How they go about it and what worked for them I mean.

I do believe there is a method for everyone. Just keep looking. I admire the ones that can do it cold turkey also. I think when you are ready that is the easiest route to take.
