What would be in your thoughts in a journey… alone?

Hi Sreekala.. I do travel 30 mins for my office daily in the bus if there is no traffic jam.. If there is huge traffic it takes 1 hour.. So most of the time I get some or the other friends near my home in the same bus.. sometimes I get my school friends so I talk with them.. If I dont get any friends then I try to see outside what is happening and sometimes like you I too remember my friends and their jokes and all.. But If I have got more work for that week then I try to plan how much work I need to finish that day..

I travel alone all the time, not just to the office but wherever I go, on holiday abroad too.
I guess I just watch the landscape out of the window, sometimes I do the people-game, that is peeking to the people inside the cars and based on what they are doing or their faces, invent something silly they are thinking.

When I am alone and lonely not necessarily be on a journey, my mind will wonder in the horizon and bring me to places where I have walked before in the previous chapters of my life like when I was in my teenage days, the sweet experiences that have created great impact in my life and the carefree life that I once enjoyed. I enjoy being alone sometimes as I have the chance to rekindle past memories.

Hi Sree, it's nice to know that you enjoy so much in your 20 journey to the office every morning. From your description I could imagine there is a beautiful lady with smiling face sitting alone in the bus Actually there are lots of thought in her mind...even some are ridiculous...

I usually go to work by driving. I never switch off my car radio, so I start the car engine I could hear melodious song on the air. I like singing or humming song which I'm familiar with It's really interesting as well to watch different people doing different activities outside the window.

In the 20 minutes or so journey I will pass by some stalls. When seeing people selling fried banana or other delicious foods there I have the thought to taste it. I get excited and keen to get the food. But eventually I don't stop for it as I scare that I might be late for work. But it's sad that when I pass by the stall after my office time the stalls are closed I think I would not be able to resist my temptation and stop to get the tasty food one day lol...

I love travelling. That too travelling alone, so that I can watch the beauty of nature as well as immerse myself in thoughts and dreams. Smiling I too do when I remember something or other. I hate travelling in a train if somebody else sitting opposite me watches and even starts talking. I like the solitude I get among the crowd. Happy lotting.

I don't travel to work or use public transport at all, but I do a lot of long distance driving, usually by myself, and I love the peace and solitude.

I very often drive to the capital which is a 4 hour plus drive and to other places 4 - 6 hours away. I have music playing, but it is usually soft, instrumental music, light classical or Gospel, and does not interfere with my thoughts. I do a lot of thinking and planning in regards to my voluntary work and sometimes even talk to myself, gathering my thoughts. I very seldom get tired, and if I do I change the CD to vocal songs and sing along with them. Driving is a happy experience.

Interesting discussion, there is always a lot on my head when i travel, mostly i think about my friends, mostly i listen to music while traveling otherwise my mind starts to wander, well there is this friend i have, i don't know why but i often happen to find myself thinking about this girl, we txt each other quite a lot each day and we share a lot things, we had some very funny moments, she is my closest friend now and so i can't help think about her at times when i am idle... hmm some other times i start to day dream, i imagine myself playing drums on the stage while i am actually listening to some music, sometimes i get that much engrossed with listening to music... yeah thinking about funny moments i actually laugh a little even though i am aware people are nearby still it means so much to recall wonderful things and make you feel happy, i think about some of the best days i had with my friends, what jokes we used to crack, such nice memories will always remain and at times i would want to just smile thinking about all these... it is just so wonderful, have a nice day Sreekala!

I already went on my own escapade alone. It was actually very moving, to me yes, i don't know to you guys but here it goes. I realized that when you're alone to tend to feel as if everybody is looking at you or worse pitying you for being alone. At first, i really felt the stares but you now what i was the only one feeling that way. When you're alone you get to see a better look while when you're with your friends you focus on the people you're with you chat and have fun and you won't notice anybody else because you have a companion.

There are times that its good be alone but we shouldn't isolate ourselves.

I normally drive my bike to reach my office and many a times my better half gives me company. Driving has become a ritual and a sub-conscious activity and we travel by the same roads everyday. I mean driving goes on automatically, and when it is heavy traffic, I slow down, as per the requirements and when there is any empty road, I usually (automatically) accelerate my speed. Nonetheless, thoughts about past happenings, recent happenings, mylot friends, mylot discussions and about daily pending chores keep traveling in mind. I cannot stop flow of thoughts……LOL! Many years ago, I used to come to office by a charted bus. In the bus, we had a group of 3-4 friends and we used to share about our experiences and day-to-day life with each other and time would pass very soon, we would not realize, when we reached our office or home. Compared to previous mode of travel, I find that driving is a big hazard on road and one needs to be super alert, while driving, which adds extra stress and strain on mind.

You mean Kala that on Indian road and with Indian drivers and overcrowded transport, you have the peace of mind to actually think of something else other than concentrating on the road or keeping your co-passengers from treading on your toes!!! LOL name the city, I’m going there…
But seriously, I can think of nothing else really. From my home to my office is about 5 minutes by bus if the roads are clear and I have another 10 minutes in hand to actually leave my house, stand at the bus stop and then walk to my office. Those 5 minutes are nightmare and when I get down, I have to wait for eternity (it seems in the rush hour) just to cross the road…so, no dear, I don’t think of anything else!
