With GOP victories in Virginia and New Jersey, the media has gone into scrabble mode to say this had nothing to do if Obama. My question is would this view be different if the Democrats had won those states. Would the media be saying that these victories are because of Obama's approval?

Of course they would.
The liberals are running scared, Comrade 0bama put a lot of effort into those elections and his candidates lost.
It is a referendum against both his policies and the individual candidates as well.
The statements by the media is merely their attempt to spin the results to their benefit, and have no basis in the actual events.

Your "Comrade Obama" says it all. And the media spouts the party line all the way!

In 2006 when the Democrats won in New Jersey it was said, by the Left Leaning Media, that this was the signal that the Republicans were doe and 2008 would be a land slide for the Democrats. This even though New Jersey has been a strong Democratic State.
