Around 10 or 12 years ago some of my firends talked me into peicred ears! I agreed and I had it done on my birthday. Everything was ok and I didn't mind having pierced ears and having earing in. I remeber getting am ear infection by my earing and couldn't waear any earings when I could I had to have the hole redone! It had reclosed! I liked earings but I didn't like having them put in! I couldn't put them in myself! It just freaked me out! So after awhile I realized earings weren't for me! I took out the earings and let my holes close! It is not for everyone and it sure wasn't for me!

Hi bluespacker, I wasn't allowed to have mine done as a teenager so naturally wanted it. I did it when I first went away to university and liked the chance of being able to wear nice dangly earrings, but my ears didn't like them and got infected by cheap metals. I kept tryiny as I used to love those closiene ones I think they were called, and didn't want to wear a gold stud, so I too just gave up. I can still feel where the holes used to be though.

exactly. They feel like annoying little lumps to me if I ever touch the lobes, do you find that too?

And here I thought I was the only one that felt this way about earrings! LOL I was 9 years old when I got my ears pierced the first time around. The only reason I even did it was because my (older) sister had wanted her's pierced, so I figured it was the perfect opportunity to get mine done too. LOL And even though I loved the idea of being able to wear earrings, I hated having to put them in as well as take them out. It too freaked me out! So, my sister would do it for me. Anyway, a short time later, it was time for our first real pair of earrings. I don't remember what I got, but my sister got some cute little sea shells. The employee that had pierced our ears put these earrings in for my sister. But she put one of them in too tight. My sister complained that it hurt, but the employee claimed it was the way it was supposed to be worn. I'm not sure how much time went by, maybe a few weeks, when one day our mom had to take my sister to the hospital. Her ear had grown over the earring (yep, the one that had been put in too tight). Well, seeing that happen to my sister freaked me out even more than I already was when it came to earrings so when one of my ears got infected I let both holes close up! I wasn't allowed to get my ears pierced for years after that. But I was okay with that as I wasn't in any real hurry to get them redone anyway. LOL I did eventually get my ears repierced when I was 18. What can I say, I liked earrings too much not to have my ears pierced. And even though they still freaked me out a bit then, I could at least put them in and take them out on my own at that point. LOL Happy mylotting!

I had my ears first pierced when I was about 6 years old, i think. My aunt did mine with and ice cube to numb my ear and then she shoved the earring through my ear. That really hurt alot. I have mine done twice now but do not wear earrings anymore either.

That was my feeling when I was younger. I remember getting my ears pierced when I was around 8 or so and it didn't turn out well. The person that did the piercing put the hole in the wrong spot and my ear ended up becoming seriously infected. I had to stop wearing the earrings and let the hole close up. It was painful and at the time I told myself that I never wanted to get my ears pierced again. However, a few years passed and I changed my mind. My friends were all wearing earrings and I wanted to too. So, I begged my mom to let me. I was 10 at the time. But instead of getting it professionally done like last time I made her do it for me. She actually used a needle to pierce my ear and it was quite an experience. Not exactly painful because it was numbed but it felt really strange. I've had my ears pierced since then and have had no problems since.

Yikes! Your mom did the piercing the second time! I'm glad it went well! When I had it done I went to a place were they knew what they were doing! Happy Mylotting!

I found that some earrings are really difficult to put in and take out. When I got my ears pierced (20 years ago) I left the earrings in for almost a year before taking them out. Now the hole is just there. I went for periods of a couple years without wearing earrings and the hole never closed. It makes it much easier. My suggestion is that if you decide to get pierced again, leave the studs in for a long time. It just makes things easier.
