Oh No I Can't Believe This

Oh I'm sorry to know that, I like Oprah too. Her show is aired on a local channel here (but I guess it's delayed telecast, have to find out) but mostly I get a good reception only when the TV is hooked on cable. Whenever I can find time to watch TV (which doesn't happen very often), I try to catch Oprah.

I do not get to watch much TV either, and do not have cable. Could not justify the cost. I hope that not all our good shows just go on over to cable.

I can understand your upset over this. My sister loves her to bits! She watches this show like all the time and though I've not really watched that much of her show, I do respect this lady. She's like super intelligent, her shows are engaging and oh yeah, Dr. Oz..I wish I have a family doctor like that too, just living a few steps from my home. . Would she listen to the protest? I do know that she's a very fair lady when it comes to making important decisions. Perhaps she would change her mind after all. How much is cable over there? I don't have one too, but my sis does. She loves it so much and if I'm not mistaken, she watches it over on Hallmark. She pays around $30-$40 per month just so she could watch all these talk-shows, like Jay Leno, David Letterman and also Oprah..

It's not all that unusual to see talk show hosts move on to the cable network. I remember when Bill Mahr was fired from ABC and had to move to cable, where he was slightly more free to express his views. Perhaps this will open Oprah up to more shows that perhaps won't be so censored.

You should be able to view her shows on her website though, I believe she has each episode each week. Or, you can try to track her on Youtube where people may have put up videos of her work. If you know someone that can record her shows for you perhaps they can send you a DVD of her day to day stuff each week so you can view it.

I wonder why she would do that? Would it be on the OWN you think? Her network so why not?
But I have heard about people dropping cable since the transition to HD programming since people are able to get more stations.
Plus with the cost of cable or satellite going up every year and no one getting raises eventually people will just cut cable and she will lose viewers.
Until it happens, try not to worry about it. Cause it may not anyway.

I think cable means more money for Oprah. I guess she does not think she has enough yet. I think for the people she should stay on public TV. I used to watch Oprah, but now her show seems out of touch with the average person, too far away from my reality so I don't get anything out of it anymore cause I can't relate.

I don't watch any of those types of shows really. I did however tape the episode with Patrick Swayze's wife last week. I have Direct TV right now so I can watch football.

I like watching Oprah and I too would feel disappointed if her show was moved to cable because I don’t have it either. Just today we had to buy a new TV because the old one was dying so we bought a lovely digital one which we love but have not figured out how we are going to pay for yet so cable is out of the question for us; we are lucky we have a TV. at all! I will go to her website and voice my concerns, I wonder if it will go to cable in Oz land as well? I would imagine it probably would. Bummer!

I know this lady, my friend. But I don't actually watch her shows because I feel her show is for female only and I don't like to watch those topics...

I think she should weigh the pros and cons of moving to cable. For Oprah, money is not the concern. She was plenty of that. So, what can cable provide Oprah? Does that mean fewer peopel will see her as you need to pay for cable as compared to free TV. Ti me, Oprah is a businesswoman but she is rationale enough to know that popularity and ratings are crucial to her talk show. I do hope she is not making a mistake.
