Do you clean up and order your whole house when you are going to have friends?

I don´t. My house is fairly clean always and a little bit messy with books I´m reading, some handwork I´m doing, the battery charger on the floor with batteries getting charged.
I prepare a nice dinner because I love to cook and they love to eat what I cook.
. We eat and talk, we change the world with words, everybody helps to clean up later.
Some people invite seldom because they feel that they have to do a through cleaning before the guest arrive. They put their best dishes and silverware. It´s a lot of work.
How do you do it? Do you invite often or seldom? What do you do when you have guests? Share!

I try to keep my house straight enough all the time that if someone comes by i will not be embarrased at the way my house looks. I use to have alot of company but i really don't anymore. I do enjoy it when i do. Seems like people don't visit like they use to. Have a great sat.

Hi Jo,
I had a lovely weekend at the beach with my eldest daughter and my grandson Diego (8).Thanks.
I try to keep my house in order but I don´t always do it. I do have the kitchen and bathroom absolutly clean though.
Fortunatly I have the kind of friends that give out a hand if needed when they come for a visit.

Though I don't need to take out my best crockery when I have guests everytime, I NEED to clean up major. I have kids at home and everyday seems like a tornado hit our place...and everyday I'm cleaning up anyways. BUt when guests are over, I need to do major cleaning. Hmmm...come to think of it....there's no point because if our guests have kids they bring along...it's the same again by the time they leave...though some of them ask the kids to help to clean up the toys and whatever else they used.

It seems that yours is the kind of cleanup I do when my younger granchildren come. I mostly worry about stepping over a car, train or crayon. So I do a sweeping of the places where I walk. I don´t mind so much cars parked under the furniture: they´ll take them out the next time they come.
. My grandchildren help with the pick up job and my daughters do their part but I think they all have eye problems: they don´t see some obvious toys.

Our home is clean too, except when my sons are at home, then you find their things strewn all around their room. This will not come in the way of guests. I don't enjoy cooking, so I get it done. but I spend most of the time with the guests.

I love to talk with my friends. I admit I prefer that to cleaning too much and they prefer it too.

I like to tidy my lounge before my friends visit. I don't wish any of them to fall over my toddler son's toys. I like to make sure the sofa hasn't got any clutter on it so they can sit down. I use my ordinary plates and cups to give the food and drinks. I don't wish to work too hard to get my home ready for guests. Hug.

I also do some cleaning up but will not work so hard as to be tired when they arrive. I remember that it was more difficult when the girls were small. But I kept a big box for the toys and odds and ends and there they all went. I still do for my grandchildren (the smaller ones). My daughters bring me the old toys and they like tham again when they are here.

You have a lot of housecleaning to do every day without guests, I imagine.
Animal friends are quite messy. My Lola is ABSOLUTLY naughty. But they are good companions.

Hi,marguicha,I don't take total burden, but i used to help to my wife in cleaning , changing bed sheets, cleaning floor, arranging interior decorators on table etc..
In general guests will come only on special occasions like festivals, birth days,marriages...but few friends will come on special invitation, that day we have to do all this cleaning process. We usually prepare what food items are special[canal fish curry,Tiger prawns fry..famous in our area] in our area that food preparations only we prepare and those only they expect. The real cleaning process in house is begin after the guests completed the dinner and say bye...
Have a great time.

i'll tidy it up,but i'm not doing deep cleaning.
i don't expect that from my friends and they shouldn't of me either.
as long as you keep on the little things it shouldn't be that bad anyway.

I clean my house about everyday. I try to keep everything in order but it tends to get moved either from my husband or daughter then I have to go clean it back up. But my house isn't perfect. I try to make sure my house looks ok for people to walk into it so I can have a proper dinner ready for them and my table set nice.

For living alone in the house, usually, I won't clean up the whole house. Even if some friends visit me and have a party in my house, I won't order it on purpose.
I guess I am a clean liver, then I spend much time in working office instead of my house. Although I want my house to keep clean, I don't have a habit of cleaning it per day. You see, all my friends are familiar with me and they don't mind even if my house is in a mess.
It is really a good way to have a party with my best friends in my house. Every time, we will pour out all that we wish to say.

Our house is pretty clean we aren't messy people we always clean up what we mess up. So no I don't do a real spring cleaning when guest are coming over. Our house looks clean no matter what day it is. We invite people over but hardly ever have help cleaning up the mess when dinner is done. But that don't really matter to us cause we would rather clean up later and have time to spend with our guest. We play games and chat about the things that matter at that moment. We usually do the cooking and chatting while the guest are here and then sit back and play games and chat. It is always a nice visit. Have a great day!

Yes, I do. It is something in me that I feel if the house is not clean they will think of me sloppy person especially if I have guy over. First impressions say a lot about people and there manners etc...I do not want people telling other people that I am rat pack and not clean. Maybe it is because I work two jobs and feel that I am insufficient. I think when you are dating a guy looks at that to see what type house hold he will be living in. Most men like clean houses which relates the females takes care of herself etc...
My mother and my ex-mother-in-law were avid cleaners. It was done like every other day and some weekends it was top to bottom what I mean the upstairs get clean as well as downstairs.
I hope this helps

Hi, I invite seldom, because I rent a house, I don't have my own one, and I live with others, so it's not very convenience to invite a lot, but I will also invite my best friends to come to my home, I will always clean up the house before they come, and I will prepare some drinks and snacks for them, but I won't cook, I'm not good at cooking, so we always choose have dinner outside.

I remember we do clean up the whole house, arranging everything and even put to laundry all dirty clothes before the new year comes. As I learned it from my mom that everything must be in order for the new year for us to have a clean and orderly lives the whole year through. So before christmas little by little we do arrange things that's in preparation for the new year thing.

I sometimes do but not every time. Although our house is clean I still sometimes wipe the floor and rearrange some pillows on the living room for it to look nice and tidy. But if it was my close friends who are visiting, most of the time I don't care even if its dirty and messy. Haha.

No I don't either. My house is also clean most of the time. Some days the kids run riot so it is a bit messy but nothing that will take me hours to clean. I will tidy up before friends come over but no major cleaning. We also clean up before going to bed because my husband and I both hate getting up the next morning to a mess. Our friends are very casual so we don't put our best silverware or dinnerware out. LOL. We normally have a bbq which is relaxed.
