What do you prefer, to give or to receive?

I have come to know in my desire to be educated about money and finances that God's principle about money is to give so that we can receive. It is written in Luke 6:38 that says, "Give, and it shall be given unto you." If we read it and analyze, it may be difficult to grasp but if we practice it, we will find out why it works all the time. Therefore, if we want to receive, let us give. I prefer to give than to receive because it is more blessed to give than to receive.

It is far better to give first and receive later.However if somebody is first, He/she HAS TAKEN THE LEAD AND MUST BE APPRECIATED AND IT IS THE ESSENCE OF FRIENDSHIP.
How beautiful it is that you have love for some one whom you have never seen and ofcourse if you try to help in solving the problem of such person without expecting reward or thanks, then it is the apex of humanity.

It depends on what exactly you're referring to. In relationships I think give and take should be equal between two people. One shouldn't give more than the other just as one shouldn't receive more than the other.

Giving and receiving derives happiness if it is from the heart. I wouldn't pick one over the other to keep things balanced.

I think giving is an imp and healthy way of bringn ppl closer to each other...coz the more u "give love" to the person..the more u receive...Once you start giving...u feel so satisfied that u r doin sumthn for ur sumn...and tat feeling is really grt to experience!!!

I love to give. I think too many people are into receiving or "getting" that they forget the fulfillment in giving to others.

Maybe if people were more giving, we wouldn't have so many problems in this world!

To begin with, for a relationship to be a fully loving, working relationship it should not be a give and take relationship but a give and give relationship. Let me explain what I mean and why it needs to be a give-give relationship. Give is a positive action, take is a negative.

In essence, taking is a selfish action, an action that is borne of ones thinking of their own wants and desires. To give is an unselfish action borne out of the desire to share and make someone else happy.

To receive is not the same thing as to take. To receive is to accept and appreciate. Although you are on the end that is given something, to receive graciously is just as loving because it shows the giver that you have been made happy, you appreciate and that makes the giver feel good. In essence, although you have received something whether it be a tangible gift or an intangible act of kindness, you have given back by enabling the giver feelings of pleasure.

If both participants in a relationship are bent on giving pleasure to the other there is no taking, only giving and receiving. And since both giving and receiving brings pleasure, (though the greater pleasure is without a doubt in the giving) eveyone is happy and feels loved.

After all if you receive a gift of love are you not moved to give a gift of love in return. It becomes a loving circle of giving & receiving and giving and receiving and there is never a need or room for taking, because there is no lack.

If people want to build a strong and long relastionship, to give or to receive should be equal on the whole.

As you have said above, to give is something that is so glorious. We will feel happy too when we see that our friends receiving something with happiness. Of course, receiving something means that there are some people who pay some attention to us, which is important in a steady relationship.

Of course, I prefer to give other than receiving.

I prefer both to give and to receive, to give because charity comes from home, receiving because that's the time you attain something or get rewarded for the good things you have done for someone.

well i dont give to receive, i like giving, but every now and then if someone gives me a compliment i receive it with pleasure, but i would sooner give than take.

its better to give, than to receive...

that's what i always hear when i was still a kid and up to present... giving/sharing always brings a nice and wonderful feeling, specially when you know that you have helped & make other people happy... and this is also something that i keep on my mind. so to the best that i can, i will give and not expect to receive anything, coz i know that if i don't receive any from that person, God will be there to provide it for me and use some other people/instruments to bring back the blessings on me.

with regards to couples or in a relationship, give & take relationship would be great. but again, for me, i will choose to be a giver and i will be happy doing that without any expectations. but i will also be happy if he will appreciate all the things that i am doing for him... and i think, all the things that you have done/given to your partner will pay off... and give a positive result in the relationship...just don't give too much, coz you might be taken for granted in the future and anything that's too much may harm us...
