Since when is the brand name the ONLY reason to buy something?

There's a particular brand of products that my company sells that I just don't get... It's logo is a single letter ( that you usually wouldn't want as a test grade ) & it's emblazoned along with the companies foundation date on everything they sell. This company just loves to toot their own horn. The products themselves are cheaply made & uninteresting, their only real draw is the big freakin letter. There's even rhinestone studded belt buckles with the logo on it. & THEY'RE ALL WAY OVERPRICED! Am I missing something? Does anyone know why this brand is even so FAMOUS?

The only reason this brand is so famous is because they are sooooo recognizable. Anyone who sees it knows that the owner has "more money than they know what to do with"; so, it is a "bragging point" (a way of saying see how rich I am).

AHHHHH, so they're the ones I'm supposed to run up to & say " What's in Your Wallet" ... & take it!

They are the ones who might actually have something in there wallet/purse worth taking; if, they haven't wasted it on expensive "junk".

People are weird. There's this brand, Eileen Fisher, which sells EXTREMELY expensive products - that aren't even that good in quality or fashion - for hundreds at Macy's and Nordstrom. It's ridiculous how much people will pay just because of the brand name of the clothes they're wearing. And in all honesty, sometimes, quality-wise and fashion-wise brand name/designer clothes ARE worth it because you're getting some of the most unique, and durable things. Other brands..are just a waste of money! It's like, you can go to Wal-Mart or the thrift store and pay $10 for the same thing you're buying for $100. *shrugs*. Whatever. I don't really understand it. I feel like a lot of it has to do with people having self-esteem issues and wanting to feel expensive clothes on their skin (really: no kidding!), because to some people - owning expensive brand name clothes are like.. owning a new car. It's a status symbol. Just like little teenagers who buy Abercrombie & Fitch clothes - (way overpriced, by the way) - they want to make sure that others KNOW they're wearing expensive clothes - and most people can, too, because of the "A&F" or "1892" or moose-embroidery on it. Apparently people have more respect for people who wear more expensive clothes? *shrugs*. I don't really get it.

Wearing more expensive & frankly...plain ugly stuff isn't going to get any respect from me. Respect is earned, not worn.
