The long-neaked bird sat on the rim of the glass. It rooted among the pebbles at the bottom of the 1/4-full glass, hoping to find a wormy treasure!

Hi rjvb26, I noticed your tags have critical thinking and abstract reasoning listed. If this is just to picture a scenario, I really like what Hatley wrote. Add some bird singing and its picture perfect. If you are asking to use these three items in a critical thinking or abstract reasoning scenario then probably, the 1/4 glass full of water is too low for the bird to reach to drink out it, so the bird picks up each pebble and flies to the glass and drops it in, flying back and forth to the pile of pebbles and glass, until the displacement of the pebbles raises the water level so the bird can drink. You gave it away by writing critical/abstract reasoning. Then the bird will fly around and splash a bit and sing. (smile)

rjvb hi a bird, a 1/4 glass of water and pebbles so
yes I would see a blue bird sitting on the edge of
bird bath filled with pebbles and the one fourth
cup of water. the bird hops down onto the pebbles and
splashes a bit, then starts to sing.

The bird puts all the pebbles in the glass, with the help of its beak, of course. When the water reaches the rim, the bird drinks it.
