I just went to the doctor a few months ago, and thankfully my cholesterol was excellent. I do try to eat the right foods. I try to stay away from fatty foods. I also try to exercise at least 1/2 hr. every day and I take vitamins. Unfortunately, I am still overweight. I really don't understand why I am so overweight because I really don't eat that much! I am trying though. I don't ever want to have high cholesterol. It's just something else to worry about.

Yes. I am watching my diet now and avoid a high cholesterol diet. It is necessary to minimize intake of fats and oily foods and reduce the sodium content in our meals. We should also make sure that we have a sufficient intake of vitamin C. Fresh fruits and vegetables are good antioxidants and they are rich in vitamin C like orange, lemon, papaya or grapefruit or cabbage. I am now taking a medication which controls or maintains my cholesterol level. I am back to playing badminton again as my way of exercising which, I know, helps me a lot in this area.

I take vitamins and supplements, sporadically, including fish oil. I eat flax seed meal in most baked goods. I eat oats, oatmeal, oat cereal or granola bars on a daily basis. I have not had my cholesterol checked lately, but will in a few weeks.

hey there to be honest no I dont worry about my levels I do get it checked every 6 months to a year though my doctor advising someone of my age to get it done every 12 months.
I am not over weight and fit and healthy with an average cholesterol level.
I dont try to control it I eat what I want to life is too short to worry about it unless you have underlying health issues.
As my doc says aslong as you lead a healthy active life your levels should take care of themselves tho as I get older I will prob check them maybe quarterly once I hit 40 years of age

Yes and it's finally working. My spouse has had high cholesterol most of his adult life. Finally in the past 2 years we have gotten very serious about making changes. We cook and eat some better although not a total overhaul. We choose items with lower cholesterol. We take fish oil supplements and a prescription anti cholesterol medication. Finally my spouse's cholesterol is normal, the first time since I can't remember when. Now we are working on exercise routines - heck any exercise would beat our current routine. What has worked for us was adding only one change at the time.

Not really, my family doesn't have a history of it so I'm not worried. I don't go out and look for ways to increase it but I don't really pay attention to it.

I eat loads of meat, dairy and other fats.
I'm vaguely supposed to be on a low carb diet, in solidarity with my partner, and that rather rules out all the stodge that most people eat! (Bread, grains, pasta, potatoes, rice, etc.) I have to replace it with something, so I get most of my energy from fats.
This way, at least I can be sure about my cholesterol (it's probably off the chart!).
