the wizard of oz  

This movie completely scared me when I was a child. It is still not one of my favorites. However, I do think that everyone should see it. I watched it a couple of times with no sound and had the pink floyd dark side of the moon albumn playing. Believe it or not, that was one of the coolest things I have ever seen. It is amazing how well the music fits with the movie. I have heard good things about Return to Oz, but have been unable to find it anywhere. According to the movie stores it is extremely hard to find. I would love to hear people's opinions on that movie too. My daugther is 6, and she loves The Wizard of Oz, it just goes to show the timelessness of the movie!

It is one of my favorites. An old movie theatre is going to play it on the big screen Thanksgiving weekend. I cannot wait to go!

Never seen it.
A few months ago, I downloaded it and then my hard disk crashed so I haven't seen it.
I'll do it these days for sure.

Just got done watching it with my husband and our three children. Oh does it bring back so many childhood memories for me. I am happy that I can make this a tradition with my children as well.

Hi dracoserpintenes, I love the Wizard of Oz. I also try to watch it every year. It's a classic. I still sometimes will sing some of the songs from it (snippets) like, "ding dong the wicked witch is dead" or "if I only had a brain" (smile). My favorite lines are, "Toto, I've a feeling we're not in Kansas anymore", "Lions,Tigers and Bears, Oh my!"(a favorite when camping) and of course, "I'm melting, melting!" also include the one that you wrote. My niece and nephew are still too young to watch it because it would be scary (they are 4 and 6) but I can't wait until their mom says they are old enough so I can share it with them!

It was on last night. I like the movie too but my 28 year old daughter loves the movie. She loves it so much she has gotten her daughter hooked to the point she dressed as Dorothy for Halloween. She would ring the bell and say trick a treat my name is Dorothy. My favorite classic line besides the one you mentioned is "theres no place like home".

I like that quote too.

And "You're not in Kansas any more" I think that one has been used a lot.

I think toward the end Ozz says "never mind the man behind the curtain" (or something like that). For some strange reason the principal of my sons school reminds me of that line...

I don't watch it every year religiously now, but I do remember as a child it used to come on every year and I know I've watched it many times.

Now when I think of the movie I can't help but think of the book "Wicked" too.

This movie is such a classic. I will always enjoy watching it. Great childhood memories come back to me when i watch this film. It will last forever.

I love this movie but I feel its been abit played out for me. Its a classic though so im happy others get to see it. My favourite line is also "ill get you my pretty and your little dog too". lol I love that line.

I watched parts of this on Friday sitting with great grandma... Well it's a great movie, I really enjoy watching it but it's definitely different from what movies are now. IT's one of my mom's favorite movies if not her favorite.

I think my favorite line is the song at the beginning when she lands in Oz...
