I am celebrating Thanksgiving. My youngest daughter loves this holiday. I couldnt let her down. This year is a little difficult as I am unemployed. My fiance is holding us down. I wasnt expecting to have turkey and everything. I thought it would be a bit selfish to ask. He came to me and told me to get my list ready. I must tell you. I was so happy. My baby girl would get her wish. After the big meal, we play bingo with pennies and scratch tickets. We save our pennies all year round so after the meal on Thanksgiving, we play battle royale bingo. Instead of using chips we use pennies. The person the calls bingo wins. We all empty our cards onto the winners. So they get all the pennies and the pot. The winnings for a bingo is usually a scratch ticket. It's fun. My daughter loves it. You should try it if you get the chance. Happy Thanksgiving to those who celebrate. Happy MyLotting for all others. dl

We don't celebrate thanksgiving here, and i don't know if there is a thanksgiving day here in our country. I heard a lot of things about thanksgiving day in other parts of the world like in the united states, preparing turkey is i think the main dish for their thanksgiving.

Happy Thanksgiving Hatley! I know how hard it is for a diabetic on the holidays. Unfortunately we have a few in our family. Im sorry about your son. It stinks to be unemployed. Believe me I know. I am in the same boat. I didnt even think we were going to be able to afford Thanksgiving. To my surprise my honey came through again. I know he wants to see me happy. I feel also like Im sucking him dry. I never ask him for anything. Its just that I feel guilty for being unemployed. Dont you just love it! The woman pays no guilt. The man picks up the pieces and its guilt overflowing. lol. Anyways we are having a little something today. I am happy with that. dl

We are doing brunch at my father in laws. Then we are taking Thanksgiving dinner to my mother in laws. She has had 2 strokes over the last 3 years. She can't do the cooking and all any more. One sister in law is going to be out of town. The other, well, it's not pleasant to go there, being polite. So I have the Turkey and dressing ready. We will also have potato salad, black eyed peas, corn, rolls, and maybe a black forest pie. I'm ready now! I've got a hashbrown casserole ready to take for the brunch.
Happy Thanksgiving everyone.

Sounds yummy! Unfortunately for me we arent having Thanksgiving this year. Things are going to well in my house. I am an emotional wreck. It seems like I cant get a break. I am unemployed and my relationship is terrible. There's really nothing to be thankful for. The only thing I am thankful for is my children and my dogs. Yet everytime I hug them or look at them I feel as though I should be apologizing to them for bringing them into my mess. I keep thinking of how when I was younger and I would talk about growing up and having a family. I never pretended that I would be such a mess. I dont understand it. I do wish you and yours the best Thanksgiving ever. You have a lot to be thankful for. Happy Holidays Carolyn dl

I too am celebrating Thanksgiving. I am cooking my first turkey and am a nervous wreck. I will also be making stufing, mashed potatoes and peas. For dessert I will be making a pumpkin pie and my chocolate peanut butter fudge. I hope all goes well.
I am looking forward to spending the day with my husband and three cats.
Later on that night my husband and I will be decorating the tree and the house.
I am glad that you will be celebrating Thanksgiving because it means so much to your daughter. I am sorry that you were unemployed. I understand about money being tight, my husband and I are going through the same thing. My husband works part-time and if I am lucky I get to sub once in a while.

So many of our family members have birthdays around Thanksgiving, so we all celebrate, always. We play all kinds of family games, and we all contribute to the big meal. I hope your employment situation changes soon. Wish you all the best this holiday season. I see you have a spirit of thankfulness, still.

Thanksgiving is not an Indian festival so you can very well understand that I’m actually intruding into uncharted territories LOL but there’s no much discussion on Thanksgiving and there’s an air of gaiety all around in mylot that the fever’s caught on me too! Your fiancé is such a darling and I wish the best for all of you in this season of bounty, togetherness and happiness. Enjoy and thank HIM for all He’s given to all of us.

I'm Canadian, so we celebrate in October. However, I married an American, so now we celebrate in October and November.
We could not find a turkey this year, so we ordered "Festive Specials" from Swiss Chaleg.
Each one contained:
A chicken leg
Mashed potatoes
Gravy
Sauce for the chicken
A white roll
chocolates for dessert

I am so happy for you and your family, that you are having the chance to celebrate this holiday even with you being unemployed. Even if you couldn't have all the fancy traditional menus that come with this holiday celebration. It would still have been a nice occasion for you and your family to get together with a small meal, giving thanks to God and enjoying the things you normally do (the games you play). It is the thought behind the occasion that counts. I am wishing you and your family a Very Happy Thanksgiving. I too am unemployed and have been almost a year now and I have a lot to give God Thanks for. I really don't wait for Thanksgiving, I give thanks to God everyday. Be Blessed.

When the thanksgiving came, I invited my friends to enjoy dinners at the hotel, who once helped me during my work. so I need to express my thankings to them. It's very exciting to see many friends.

what a great idea for Thanksgiving. We celebrate with a great meal put together by all of us (16 people). I like your bingo idea but our group is too big. The kids will play out side and our family ha a tradition that on holidays we play the movie the Princess Bride.
