Yesterday Was Awesome!!

Mom and I were suppose to see her priest last week but he had to leave on a family emergency out of state and so he wasn't there so instead, we went yesterday and pretty much planned out mom's funeral so that in the event it happens, I'll know what to do. It went really really well and for that I'm very happy! Mom had to go to Lowe's after wards and I went to Hobby Lobby to get some artificial flowers to make a pretty arrangement of winter flowers to put on my coffee table. After I had finished that, I went to see if mom was still at Lowe's and she was so I waited for her in my car which was parked next to her. I wanted to see if she wanted to go to lunch with me. Finally she comes out and agrees to go to lunch so we decided to go where we've been before, "Rock Ola Cafe" for it was really good. We get there and place our order and got to talking. I told her that I wanted to apologize for the nasty remark that hubby had said on the way up to the family gathering at the German Restaurant and she asked what I meant and I told her. Hubby had made the comment that it's too far and it won't happen again. I knew what he meant, which was in two ways and I only told her one of them because the other is just best kept quiet. The one I didn't say was, with her and dad's health like it is, it's best that we go somewhere much closer to home and not three hours drive away. She'll just say, she did fine and she was alright but we know better so it's just best to keep that opinion to ourselves. But what I did tell her was, since hubby's parents passed away, his sister's place has become the focal point now because it seems that all of their brothers and one sister go there but yet, we're only 93 miles from her to the south and they don't come down here at all to see us. They can drive 4 to 5 hours down here to see her but can't drive another 93 miles to come and see their youngest brother? Something's wrong with that! Especially when he was in the army and stationed in Texas, or Arkansas even, we'd drive all the way up to Virginia and then have to drive all over the different counties to get to see everybody while we were there! They couldn't come to us, we had to go to them. It wasn't right but that's how it was. Well hubby gave up on all of them and said, he's done all the traveling that he's going to do now it's their turn to come and see him IF they want to. Mom completely understood and agreed. (This is the funny part!) Then I told her that's why Arizona is looking better and better all the time because the air is really nice and not humid at all but I'd miss my trees! lol But we've been thinking seriously of moving there because nobody comes to see us except them so why not move there?! She says to me "Don't leave while I'm still here" You could've knocked me over with a feather!! I thought I had misunderstood so I asked her to repeat it and she said the exact same words and then said, "I don't want you to leave me here all alone" I told her I had no intention of doing that! No way would I do that to her or dad! She was greatly relieved and she just smiled. Now folks, you know how I've told you mom can flip on a dime, well, the first time I told her about Arizona, she kept telling me "Don't let us hold you two back!" which made me feel so unwanted! But of course, I would never ever do such a thing to them but to hear those words really hurt me big time! But now to hear her say the complete opposite, WHOA!! It truly made me feel so loved and wanted!! I know I was just beaming with the feeling! lol We continued on talking and I finally told her that I needed to bring something up that I don't want to but it's funny once you hear me out. She said go right ahead, so I told her, Remember the conversation we had where I went upstairs so hubby couldn't hear us? and she nodded, and I asked her do you remember when you said, "When we moved down here, I thought we'd have spent more time together"? She said yes, I told her "I couldn't understand what you meant because I had spent EVERY day with you at the hospital with the exception of a few maybe that I couldn't be there and I got to thinking, how much more time does she want from me?!" She laughed like hell!! We both did!! Then I told her that I knew for a long time that she was in and out of it all the time and couldn't remember the majority of it so I understood that but gosh, it just hit my funny bone and hers too once I told her. LMBO!! Now how's that for an update? Tomorrow hubby and I are going to my parents house to cook Thanksgiving dinner there. Mom wants to use her brand new table and chair set that she got three years ago but only been used only once or twice so we're taking all we have up there. Hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving!! May God Bless You All!!

hicats and dogs we just had our thanksfiving party and my son never showed up so I am a little disapointed but the lunch ws fantastic with turkey and stuffing and all the favorites.very good he missed a good lunch. however I think he slept late and just could not get here in time. also the idea of ninety strangers to him might have been daunting too.altho our activites director said we could invite loved ones, nobody else's loved ones came either so I guess thats okay. I am so glad you had such a great time with your mom and even got to share some laughs. thats fantastic and just what you wanted. So things are going really well for you. thats hopeful for sure.

Mom, Dad, hubby and I have all been through pure hell and it's nice to be back! lol Mom wants one of those door mats that says, "Welcome to the nut house".... I think it's really fitting with all that we've been through, don't you think? lol Hope you win at the slot machines!! Hubby and mom would be sooooo jealous!!

Thanks for your kind words Jill! But I'm really sorry you don't have your mom in a physical sense but she's with you in your heart. Try to remember that. I fear the day I lose either of my parents but I do know it's coming and it's better to be prepared for when that awful day comes. That's why we went together to see her priest to lay out the details so when I'm so scatter brained, I'll have all the notes to get it right. But the moment is here so I try to enjoy every moment with them as much as I can and I try to make them all memorable for none of us are here forever.

Mary Beth, It is so nice to hear your happiness when you talk about your Mom and the time you spend with her. Btw, how old is your Mom? Just curious. I am especially thrilled that she realizes what a wonderful daughter she has. I know you have been waiting a long time to hear these things she has said to you. I really admire you for hanging in there knowing that you may never hear those loving words. Well, I guess it was worth the wait. Although sooner would have been more deserving. Hugs to you sweetie. Hi Leenie! Thanks! I'm smiling from ear to ear too! It was truly wonderful to hear those words from her! My heart just melted!! Whew! I just hope and pray she continues on this path and not change but I know she could for she's done it so many times before. She's now 73. Dad is 78. Not young but not yet old either but their health isn't so good especially dad's. Anyway, my guard is still up there but I can still feel with my heart when she says such nice things like she did yesterday. I so want it to stay this way forever and ever but time will tell.

OMG, since the reunion, she's been doing sooooo much better!! It really did her a world of good!! Then the family gathering the other night, she said it was the best time of her life!! So that did her a world of good too! When she was out yesterday shopping, she was using her cane to keep her balance because she still has that inner ear problem but when she sits down, it goes away. So I was right happy to see her use her cane while she was out and about. She has an appointment with a new doctor who specializes in this sort of thing, on Dec 1st, I believe and hopefully they'll get her back on her feet once again and steady too. She's almost back to her old self, the good part that is! lol I agree, it's about DAMNED time!! lol

I am happy for you Cats and I hope your Thanksgiving is just as great as the last few days have been. It seems as though so many have plans for Thanksgiving...I wish we celebrated it here! We have to wait until Christmas for the families to come together. I love the idea of Thanksgiving and what it means. I may just start a special celebration just for my family. I hope you are having a great day, be sure to come back and tell us all about it!
