Hi vathsala30. My family isn't Christian either but I still love Christmas. I understand that some people don't celebrate Christmas because its associated with a different religion though. Have a nice weekend too.

I have got most of the gifts already. I still have a couple of people to do, but I have gotten a lot done. I am trying to get people things they need this year since a lot of my family is having financial difficulties. But I should be done shopping by the end of the week. Shopping on line has really saved me a lot of time this year.

The financial crisis definitely dampens the holiday spirit a little bit but I'm glad you're making the most of it. Thanks for your response.

i have thought about this but with my current situation i can't really afford to give anybody anything for this Christmas. it makes me a little sad to know i can't give anything. i feel terrible especially since i know when i receive a gift and i'm unable to give something back in return. so i'm kinda hoping no one bothered to get me anything this year as i told them not to worry about it.

I'm sorry to hear that. A lot of people, including myself, are facing economic hardships. Maybe you can hand craft items for your family and friends. I'm sure they'll be happy to receive something you handmade and that way, you don't need to spend money. Thanks for your response.

Not only have I thought about what I want to get my family and friends for Christmas, I am actually nearly done with my Christmas shopping before Thanksgiving for the first time ever. Our budget is tighter this year and we made the decision plenty in advance that we weren't going to be using credit cards this year for Christmas so I started my Christmas shopping a full year in advance. Even though I haven't been able to spend the kind of money that I've been able to in the past, my friends and family are still going to be getting the same amount from us as they are used to if not a little bit more because I was able to catch things on sale.

It's a very smart idea not to use credit cards. Money is spent more wisely that way. I'm glad you've done all your shopping already. Thanks for your response.
