hi friends.if you go to youtube and type something like magic delivery in cricket,u get to see warne bowling a good leg spinning delivery which pitches about 2 feet outside off stump and knocks out the leg stump of a left hand batsman. everytime i watch the video,i ask myself , Is it really a magic delivery ? it looked more like a combination of a good leg spinning delivery, some heavy footmarks outside offstump, some puff of dust and a very poor defending technique by the batsman. if you ask me what a real magic delivery is, i can answer without hesitation. just look out for the delivery which sreesanth bowled to herath and knocked his off stump off. thats what i call a magic delivery. a delivery to which the batsman has no answer. unlike warne's magic delivery, you get to see this type of delivery every 5 matches in test cricket. may be we can start a debate which is the real magic delivery? the one bowled by warne or the one by sreesanth or the one jerome taylor bowled to kevin pieterson during the 54 run all out match or the wasim akram delivery to dravid?

First of all just because you are indian you have a big prejudice for the ball bowled by Sreesanth.I believe you would see many more such dismissals buy quality fast bowlers but rarely do you see a left handed batsman who plays spin well get bowled around the legs to aball thats pitched way outsie off. That spun a great deal. The only other occassion that I can think of ball spinning so much is the semifinal of 1996 worldcup in Kolkatta when Jaysuriya bowled a hapless Jadeja around his legs. I agree that the bowl to get Herath bowled was a great delivery but you would find McGrath, Shane Bond, Akhtar, Shaun Pollock, Kallis, Edwards andmany other fast bowlers getting such wickets everynowand then. Remember the name Tinu Yohannan? He was the first fast bowler from Kerala to represent India. His first wicket in international test cricket was Mark Butcher of England. he was bowled leaving an away going delivery pitched on leg stump but the ball hit the top of off stump. Mark butcher was a better quality batsman than Herath and ofcourse he misread the line and left the ball. So I guess There is no other instance of a batsman being bowled around the legs after the ball has pitched outside the offstump, hence Shane warnes ball is truely a Magic ball.Even though we have to accept the fact that the pitch was roughed up with footmarks already.

yeah i am pretty much prejudiced considering that i believe ricky ponting as the best captain ever, mcgrath as the best bowler ever and matthew hayden as the most dominating batsmen ever. the only reason i used sreesanth was it was a recent event. u used the jayasuriya delivery but i dont remember anything of that sort.i didnt want the readers to rake their mind to search for the delivery i am talking about. as for warne,i still hold my ground.he is stll the best leg break bowler but if it hadnt been for the footmarks and a bad defending technique by the batsmen,it would be just another warne delivery eventhough the batsmen is a good player of spin.

Yes we all know what Shane Warne is capable of Spinning any ball from ledside to the Stump thats why he is the no.2 Bowler after Murlidharan in the world.

Whenever I look at that ball it really gives me goosebumps. That was his first ball in the Ashes series, bowling to the best player of spin in the English team. The ball spins from way outside leg to bowl him out. That is an announcement of domination that any champion can make to make the opponent wobbly and Warne really dominated the English batsmen for the next decade and more!! There were a couple of other deliveries that I cannot forget, one was Alan Donald to one of the Zimbo batsmen, the ball started way outside the off stump and I thought it would be a wide, instead it went on to hit the leg stump!! Amazing delivery. The other one was when Javagal Srinath yorked Javed Miandad in the World Cup at Australia. It was not too great a delivery or anything, just the moment made it so special. Cheers!
