What kind of household water source?

I know most people here have water from a public utility delivered to their homes thru the sewer system. Most of that water comes from Lake Michigan and is filtered and processed in a water + sewage treatment plant. I have well water that is pumped from an underground source into a small holding tank in my basement and then up the pipes to where it's needed. There are not too many people who have well water around these parts anymoe as they are all in communities with water/sewer systems. There are also people like a neighbor we had who had well water but subscribed to a water deliver service for their drinking and cooking water.

we do get our water from the city, but out of the Texas Colorado River, most likely from Lake Austin http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lake_Austin

we have city water but i'll tell you what- i'm giving serious consideration to having our well reopened. i'm getting really tired of paying $600 a quarter for crappy, foul tasting water. our city water has failed testing for the last 3 years now.

We have water supplied by the city. I am not really sure where the water comes from. The Mississippi River is really close to here. I am not sure if that supplies it or not.

I'm on the city water system and it tastes pretty good. My dad has a well, he lives in the country, and the water is wonderful! I have had a well before, in Arizona, and they are great but we always had to be careful not to over work it.
