I love yogurt. Even if I do not like to eat any item and struggling to finish my plate, I take some yogurt and with it's help, I finish my plate fast. I add yogurt to some food items like avial, butter milk kozhambu, pachadi, salad etc. Do you like yogurt? Do you use yogurt in cooking?

Do'nt you make salad (raitha) with yoghurt stephcjh? Add cut pieces of cucumber, onion, green chillies, salt to yoghurt and season it with mustard. You can eat this as it is or can be a side dish for mixed vegetable rice. Try, it is good for health. You can even saute tomato or capsicum and add yoghurt. This is called pachadi. Easy to make.

Hi Buchi,
Yogurt is a healthy food and good appetizer too. In north people prefer to add yoghurt all the time with their meals to avoid the troubles in stomach if they eat some oily stuffs. My colleagues prefer to eat yogurt with ‘samosa’ and saying that yogurt will remove the problem in stomach .. etc. I am also using yogurt for cooking with ‘avial’, pachadi etc and I also prepare yogurt itself adding coconut.

Yes Sreekala, when we take oily stuff like poori, samosa, bajji etc., better to take curd. The bad effect of oil will subside.

We've never used it in our own cooking, but we have been places where it has been used, such as in Greek and Turkish cooking. There is a Greek restaurant here that makes the best Tzatiki sauce in the world.

Hi Buchi_bulla, yes I eat Greek yogurt with Greek honey every day, it is very healthy as well as tasting good. I think most people here do the same. Greek yogurt is also used as a base for dips to go with bread and I sometimes add it to cakes as well. The other thing I add it to is a curry if I'm cooking Indian food.

The way you expressed, I think Greek yogurt must be really tasty. I feel like tasting it. Good to know you cook Indian food too.

Yes. I use yogurt in cooking too besides consuming as it is either straight or by adding sugar and little salt and drink it as a lassi, or add a little paste of coriander leaves, green chilli, salt, asafoetida, lime and drink it as spicy lassi. While cooking, i use it in the form of raitha of different types, aviyal, which is a combination of varieties of vegetables, dum aloo with potatoes and bagalabath, a curd rice with pomogranut seeds, green chillies, seedless grapes, curry leaves with seasoning

When children are studying for exams, it creates heat in them. Butter milk is good to give them. Have a nice day Neelimamma.
