although it is commonly used in the english slang language, it is derogatory in our language.
and somebody close to my heart called me that. i am sooo crushed. i believe, no matter how nasty i am, i should not be called that way.
but i am bent on believing it. i have been called that way many times.
i believe it. i believe i am gaga.

I am wondering what 'gaga' means in your language (is that Tagalog or one of the other Filipino languages?).
In English it is not really complimentary though it's often used in a humorous or joking sense. In English it means 'senile' or 'losing one's memory or faculties as if one were senile'. It comes from the noise that (supposedly) people make when they forget their words or talk without teeth.
In England as, I suppose, in most languages, certain uncomplimentary words can often be used and understood in a joking or playful sense. Sometimes they are even expressions of fondness. They can also be used with very little change of intonation in a serious and hurtful way. The difference is often only in the context of what is being said and to whom.
Very often things are said jokingly and without any malice but they are perceived to be hurtful and offensive simply because of low self-esteem or, sometimes, a difference in culture. Don't be too hasty in believing that someone meant to hurt you. Always ask yourself whether it's just you that are being too sensitive or whether the person really meant to wound (and if so, why? and should you really care that much?)
It's very difficult for someone with low self-esteem to put matters right, of course, but, really, what you think about yourself is YOUR problem and what others think of you is primarily THEIRS. If I scratch myself on a thorn, I may swear at the bush (or at God for creating it, even!) but the hurt and the pain is my own, not the thorn's and the mending of it is my own responsibility.
