My hubby works with a guy I went to school with from 1-3rd grade. And just for kicks I was looking thru R's friend list and boy did that really take me down thru memory lane!
I moved around plenty as a kid from Apt to Apt. So looking thru this guys friend list was just overwhelming. There are sooooo many names I recognize from that time point! I don't know that anyone would recognize me as many of them I had not seen since 7-8th grade. But I keep thinking it would be fun to add them but I dunno.....
WWYD?
I did request a friend whom was my BFF during that time period. I had not seen him since 7th grade and he was in all LD classes that I know of and 4 yrs time in lil kid yrs is a long time to remember someone. But I did, but I was also too shy to even acknowledge him beyond a smile.
Anyone else have this delema?

I say go for it. When I first started Facebook and was searching for a billion people, I pondered whether I should even try to connect with school mates from the distant past. I finally figured that if I didn't contact any of these people, I would never know . . . so I reached out. If I made a friend request, I was sure to add a personal message to tell them how we knew each other (in case they wouldn't recognize my name).
But go into it with no expectations. Most people remembered me, but some people actually didn't (and that's ok). Some people never responded either - for whatever reason - so the friend request is still pending. Some people jumped back into my life (Facebook life anyway). Others we just exchanged our life updates and we haven't really chatted since then.
Anyway, some people will remember you, some people may not. You may want to send someone a private message first and give them the option to add you to make it more comfortable for them. Good luck and hope you re-meet some people!

Sometimes I also wonder if it's appropriate to add old friends from grade school..But heck! I do anyway. Why not? What could the harm be? It's always fun to catch up and see what they're doing nowadays. I say? Why not just add them and see what happens?
