Last year, WorldNetDaily's "readers' choice" picks for the 10 most underreported stories of 2008 were: 1. Charges that Barack Obama is not a natural born citizen of the U.S. and thus constitutionally ineligible to serve as president 2. U.S. Senate committee report that hundreds of top scientists have testified they believe claims of man-caused global warming are fraudulent 3. The true causes of the sub-prime mortgage meltdown, which point directly to the Democratic Party 4. Obama's ties to terrorists and extremists 5. The campaigns of third-party presidential candidates, and Ron Paul's sensationally successful grass-roots campaign 6. The stunning success of the Iraq war 7. The sources of Obama's campaign contributions 8. Obama's far-left voting record 9. Bush's refusal to pardon imprisoned border agents Ignacio Ramos and Jose Compean, who were prosecuted by the president's friend, U.S. Attorney Johnny Sutton 10. Suppression of Dutch lawmaker Geert Wilders' film, "Fitna," which exposes the worldwide threat from Islam They are looking for stories for 2009. Any suggestions? What do you think of this list?

I red the WorldNetDaily and other alternative news source and I think the reason that the Mainstream wants them buried is because they are too in love with Obama, the exception being the Foxnews Network and unlike the other news networks, we have to subscribe to it here in Canada. That shows how the Canadian network feels about anyone who has doubts about the legality of Obama. Of course, those who believe what the mainstream media says would think that these hidden news stories are nonsense and that people will go on with their lives. I would say these people do not think. For instance, when we get a real cold spell up here in January, we know that there is no such thing as global warming, when our gas prices go up in spite of that, we know that fighting global warming has no benefit for places that have cold winters. When everyone in the media adores a certain man who is relatively unknown, it should send a red flag. Only Jesus Christ was perfect. I would suggest a story on China's influence on the West, regarding of course, its human right violations, and the increasing anti-Christian bigotry of public society.

I do hope that things turn out better for America, but the way I see it, it does not look like it. You may have a president who was born in America, but he sure does not act like it. But one never knows. I do wish our media up here was a little more objective, but then they have their own agenda and it is not the same as the government's.

For anyone looking around the net at blogs and alternative websites and whatnot, these stories were all over the place. But if you were looking for them in any legitimate mainstream newspaper or on most cable news, good luck finding them! I think it's seriously hurtful to any news source that buries news. And moreover, it's ridiculous and hurtful to America. We live in a 24/7 news cycle. Stories like the ones you mentioned, if picked up by the mainstream, would have, ironically, evaporated quickly. They would have been out in the open, people would have taken them in, muttered their mutters, and moved on with their lives. But when they're buried, it gives people cause for alarm. Why are they buried!? Why won't this news network run what this one does, and vice versa!? Are the networks in the party's pocket!? Are they trying to run news or effect change!? When it's left to bloggers and young girls with reporting aspirations to "break" news and "expose" things, it becomes a huge mess for news in general. You could honestly remove everything you know about a certain news medium from your mind and look at it (whichever you choose) with a simple standard: This one runs selective stories, this one does not. And you'd be left with a choice to make -- picking which one is "news," which is biased, which is legitimate, etc. Personally, I'll never trust mainstream news again. Dammit, I'm an American and, if there's a story that may speak truth about the person looking to become my President, I have a right to know! The people making the call at the network or paper letting their own bias get in the way of reporting negatively is damaging my ability to know the truth. Now I have to sift through the garbage and the coverups and the padded puff pieces to find out who someone is and what they're aiming to do. And it's not really a whole lot better on the other side. If you only watched at certain hours or read certain magazines and papers, you would come away thinking Obama and all liberals are the devil. In my opinion, it's a form of indoctrination. A few bias newspeople holding America's proxy and deciding what we see and what we don't is, to me, about the same as parents teaching their children to be bigots or terrorists or just plain loons. Now, I'm all about personal responsibility. And if you want the truth, go get it! But the fact of the matter is that these news sources burying and changing news are the most widespread and popular out there. They have a responsibility to be honest. Okay, you love Obama and progressive policy. That's fine! You can still love it without assisting it by hiding news! Hey, you hate "that side"? Fine! You can still be truthful with the audience without the hyperbole and twisting and smearing! Most of America isn't so political as we few on myLot and around the blogosphere. If we were, we wouldn't have a country! We'd be in constant civil war. But the mainstream treats us like fools; treats us like we have to choose a side. And some of the furthest-leaning networks don't even give a choice. They choose your side for you. And even though I see a gigantic difference in "left" and "right" news, I also see that neither is innocent. I'm only thankful that, at least with one "side," I become a little more informed about the people attempting to run my country. I put in some SERIOUS effort this year to find out the truth -- or, at least, what the mainstream wasn't willing to show me. Here are some stories I think were buried by most mainstream sources: Tea Parties being a legitimate grassroots movement. ACORN (until video #4 lol). Progressive healthcare reform naysayers' discontent and their legitimacy as AMERICANS! (They were called... well, we all know what they were called.) Nearly 40,000 farmers, their families, their communities and the country taking a gigantic hit in order to save a species of minnow! The stimulus money's "selective" spending being in line with the elections and the fact that, even with the jobs "created," insane amounts of money were spent for hardly even a temporary solution. The worst time for American soldiers in Afghanistan. The physical violence of some protestors being buried while yelling and mean-spirited signs from others was touted as Armageddon. The Fort Hood terrorist being a terrorist. Plenty more, but I've ranted on long enough. I look forward to reading what others write on this discussion.

I than you for your thoughtful response. I too have been trying to stay well informed. I do this by looking at a multitude of news sites. Your concerns of the year are just a small portion of what mainstream has left behind.

Hi laglen, so you're saying these were the top ten unreported stories of 2008. Personally I thought the 'Where's the Birth Certificate saga' had been going on and on and on for much longer than just 2009. Just amazing how over exposure to the same old same old really does become so tedious it feels like its been going on forever.
