Do you ever feel Blue during the Christmas Holidays? What do you do about it?  

First off, i am sorry to hear that. I don't like christmas. Not because of the holiday but of past experience I had in a certain place. EVery year, my aunt makes a party at her house and when she invites, it's like an obligation for me to go. When i tell my mom that I don't want to go, she would be angry. Everytime i go to their house, it's like I remember everything that hapenned in the past. I stay quiet in my own and play with the children to pass the time. the husband of my aunt did bad things to me for three years. One day when i was 15, we went to visit my aunt and I went in the basement to play with my cousin. I remember sitting on a bed reading a comic and suddenly the father came and wanted to do something. I kicked him in the stomach and i ran upstairs. Eversince, I hated coming to that house. I swear that it is the last place i want to go. The elders know about this but they still want me to go because they want the family together. When i spend christmas with friends, I feel more happy and i do enjoy it very much. But every year, I have to go there for christmas or my cousin's birthday. There's no escape to it.

I am very sorry to read your blues today. I do hope it gets better for your family soon. I use to feel blue this time of year. Because I always buy gifts for other.s and I get nothing. This year will be no different for me. Except I have a new year to look forward to. I got back in touch with my ex of years. Now we are together again and starting over. The best part is he will be starting the new year with me. I do hop you feel better soon.

Hi! Yes, i do get blue during the Christmas Holidays. I would say the reason why is because things get so hectic during these times, and things have not felt like they should havefor several years now. I enjoy spending time with my family, but the holidays have just seemed like a drag lately.

My mom died in 1990. Growing up, she was my best friend. Her birthday was January 1st, so we had awesome Christmas and New Year's parties. I get blue during the holidays especially when I hear some of her / our favorite songs. I keep myself busy, work, school (I'm finishing my bachelor's degree in business), family, friends....and as a last resort, housework. Nothing like scrubbing the tub/shower, washing dishes to get your mind off stuff. I like yardwork (gardening), feeding the birds (I feed hummingbirds, cardinals and blue jays). Sometimes you just can't help being sad. Those are the times I go take a long HOT shower and have a good cry.

I'm sorry you are still having issues w/ your father passing. I know those feelings come back from time to time though we do what we must to continue on with our daily lives. That was nice of you to invite your ex-MIL.... she must be very hurt especially since they say it's difficult to bury a child no matter their age, as the parent is to pass before the child.

I think the best thing to do is to talk. Even if you talk in such a manner on a forum as this or the alike. Just getting your feelings out makes a world of differance just as someone compassionate enough to listen w/o judgement.

First off, just wanted to say im sorry for your loss and whole sad story alltogeather. But i think all of us get a bit blue (not to say even depressive).
Well , i know i do. Im 23 year old Crane operator from Croatia, and i have two kids Iris (2,5) and Antonio(4) and its very hard to provide all the things they see in comercials, that describe Christmas as something that i cant afford. At that point, i cant describe you how i feel, but still , im happy for all those that enjoy Christmas holidays, and i wish you, and all readers here nothing but the best for holidays ahead !

And I guess it must be really hard on both of you but look at the happy and joyful Face of your little Grand daughter and let her help you to cheer it up a bit and also for your Ex Mother in law
A Child can ease a lot of Pain and bring much happiness with its innocents and happiness
I do get like that but only because I miss my Children being small and seeing their happy Faces on the morning of Christmas at 5am lol
But that is just me being sentimental I guess

Hey sweet! Many people feel sad during the holidays and I am
one of them! I don't know what it is, but I have always felt
kind of sad. Maybe it's because it is the end of a year that has
not gone very well and the beginning of another that is going
to start our with the problems from the preceeding year! There
are many different reasons that people feel sad during the holidays.
I have my health that is not too good, but know others who are worse
off and my mom who is turning 80 this year, and my friends and my
boyfriend who I love very much. But, even with all that I have I
still feel blue! I am trying to get myself into the holiday spirit
even thought this year I have lost some people who I have cared about~

I'm sorry to hear about your dad :( Sometimes I feel moody/blue during the holidays because the Holiday magic died for me awhile ago. After a few too many terrible Christmas's, I gave up on having a good holiday. The last few holidays none of my family has been together for them, so it's really hard to enjoy them. Nothing can compare to how magical Christmas seemed when you were a kid. :( I can't wait until I have kids and I can make their Christmas special for them, and maybe it'll return some of the holiday spirit for me too..

that's a sad experience. anyways, i did some of the things that just not left me feel blue during christmas. i don't like that too since people are obligued to spend and to the extent lend oney from others just to celebrate.it's not practical anymore.there are times that i want to be alone with my immediate family but my mom and dad won't allow that. she wants us to be all intact during that time eventhough we're not all in good terms.it seems that i need to face them with fake smiles and i hate that. i forgive them already but i just don't wanna meet them in person.
