A Blue Saab  

I mean, is it a "Sab?" Or maybe a "Say-ab?" Or a "Sob?"

I pronounce it "Sarb". That's how they say it on the TV Ads here anyway.

hi lamb and pikey and I always thought it was sob like in sob, boo hoo, etc, or maybe thats because sometimes the price was so high the buyer went sob, sob. silly I know, but its just too early in the morning. anyway I always called Sob.

Lamb!! It IS in fact as Hatley said,, not because we were crying when we bought one but because we are crying now 'SAAB' in Swedish sounds like sob. or ( saw+B) So dear Hatley AND lamb, you are correct, you may go to the front of the class, but you may not have a SAAB, sorry!

Sarb?? really Pike?? no wonder we couldn’t stay afloat! We cannot even translate our own car into English sounding??

I was so saddened yesterday and we discussed it a few times, my wife and I.. all the poor people in this country out of work Volvo and SAAB..
I love my car and my best friend loves his old Volvo,, and it was a misty darn cold day here yesterday when we found out what we suspected would happen anyway.
why I feel the mist coming on again!

I am glad I wasn't in the sandbox playing with the other kids or they would have has sand in there eyes and I would have peed on 'someone' too.. it is hard not to be 2 or 4 sometimes.

It doesn't really matter how we say it anymore,, it is as it is.. and money talks in the conniving big-boy arenas .. yo know what I mean. the ones that ruin our countries and economies and reputations.. and just to show that I may be teary eyed but I still have spirit... I say. Thank goodness we had ABBA!!

I think that he will like that idea. Of course he'll need something else to get to the store with!

I knew he should have kissed that frog that landed on his hand. He might have gotten 3 wishes out of the deal. A lot could have been done with those wishes....

But, catdla!! Think of how many children I would have had, had we, froggy and I, really gotten so 'close' and how would we be able to feed them now with this, yet another, crash to our economy.. pretty soon the game, Monopoly, shall be using REAL money.. Swedish Kronor!

Pike, I really think the idea Catdla has about my SAAB is a great one,, but I have no garage place and right now it sits in the drive and I can see it from the window beside the front door and I touch it even if I am driving it.. It looks, I kid you not, so noble and proper and proud just now.. it brings tears.. It is just symbolizing for me it's pride to be a great vehicle and trusted in it's performance and just loved even under such circumstances of being treated as unworthy by outsiders who have money.

It cannot be stored even though the idea is brilliant catdla!!
We must drive it to show her proudly and to get to certain places not convenient by public transit.

Spare parts..everything is being assembled in places so that we will still have excellent service with good parts... but a lot of good hardworking people won't be seeing any happiness in a long time..better to drive this car proudly in honour of all the folk who now are out of work with no where to go.

Well, you know Fjaril, you have a wonderfully kind heart. To see it replicated as your progeny cover the globe could only be seen as a good thing. In time it wouldn't be the cars like Volvo and Saab that close, it would be the companies that manufacture weapons. Governments who are now sucking up money to wage battles will no longer need the money for that purpose. That's how Saab automobiles got it's start at the end of WW II anyway. Governments turned from making aircraft to cars. Lets just see if that can happen again!

I wouldn't worry too much about feeding them, although in the beginning it might be a little difficult. Can't you just see a chain of gourmet flystraunts that rival McD's?

He will be inconsolable I am sure Hatley. A little part of Swedish culture has died.

I wouldn't be too surprised if a last minute deal is made with one of the parties that have been negotiating to purchase the company. Saab has such a long history it really would be a shame if it ended.

I am not consolable just now, Pike my friend..I am so sorry for the whole industry , for the people and I am uselessly and irrationally angry with those who make boardroom decisions without a condom and get away with it because they own the sandbox. So the world is run.. one cork says to the other,, 'what-- you too??

and something good will come out of this. isn't that what I should say?? when people are down and out and have kids to feed and the economy is already soo hurt?and the social/welfare system is already incredibly hurt by genuinely trying to give and keep support for all the immigrants legal and illegal and all other unemployed citizens and the other moneys dumped into everything here to keep us going.. now there will be thousands more mouths from this same pocket to be fed and clothed and housed... I am proud to own this blue SAAB!

Buy a Mercedes Sparky. As a colleague once told me when I suggested such a thing to him: Why buy a car that almost every country in the World uses as a taxi? (Cos it's reliable I suppose is the answer).

The idea is great , to keep the car in mint condition and sell it in 25 years.. shall I live that long, I wonder?? hmmm,, maybe ,,if I walk everywhere I need to go.. of course I wont have any money in that time becuase I wont make it to work to put in enough hours before I have to turn around and walk back home.

Better to drive it proudly is how I feel right now.

Well then P1ke I would certainly never entertain one as I hate Vauxhalls they are the most unreliable Cars I have ever come across

( I SURE DO,, hahaha) and it is even too late now to put my hands in my sides and stand there and say *my dad is bigger than YOUR dad* because it isn't so, a car is as most other items.. worth what it is in the eyes of the beholder.
