Do you prefer to give/receive just one big present or several smaller ones?

generally, I'd prefer to have a few smaller presents because it keeps the spirit of Christmas going longer. my sons also like to have several "bits & pieces" for the pleasure of unwrapping. We always wrap each thing individually so it takes ages for us to get through the 'opening' meaning we spend more time together talking and laughing.

Just depends... Some years there is a "big" present that I want and others there isn't. Some years the kids want bikes or a wii or something and I"m sure they'd rather get those than lots of little presents. Sometimes too many is too much, actually. I remember when they were in day care and they did a Christmas thing and every kid brought a present for every other kid. Plus what the got at home and from relatives. My oldest, who has her birthday 8 days before Christmas, one year didn't finish opening all her presents until February!

You must've had a stack of old wrapping paper to get rid of after! Its very rare for me to be able to come up with anything I particularly want so I'm happy enough unwrapping stuff that I would buy anyway... cotton wool, pens, vitamin C tablets etc - useful stuff. I suppose it depends on the age and circumstances as to how many is too many.

It was just too much (the presents, not the wrapping paper).. :-)

How about both?? One big one and then a few small ones. Thats what we always did in my family. I have a brother that him and his g/f get like 20 little gifts and spend like an hour opening them all...that would make me nuts though LOL I usually just get one big one for each person and I'm done. yes, that's what we used to do - one big and a few small but, this year there were several smaller ones because there wasn't really anything big that we wanted.

i think several smaller ones work better for me. it manifolds the pleasure on recieving a gift.otherwise gift big or small always gives me lot of joy.so i try to gift my christian friends a big pack with smaller ones inside it on christmas say a pack of chocolates hid within a nice clothing, with a pack of aromatic candles above a sweet little card.

That's a nice idea... it gives people a variety of gifts.

One thing I love most during the Christmas holidays are the presents. When I was a child until around high school, I love getting small and/or cheap gifts as long as I receive a lot of gifts. I wanted to open a lot of gifts on Christmas Day. I remember my sibling and I would brag about who got more gifts. When I became older, since college until now, my preferences changed. I now prefer getting only a few gifts, even just one, as long as it is something I really want and have on my wish list.

I never really have a wish list so I just enjoy the randomness of smaller unexpected gifts... or maybe I just never grew up

I think I will be more happy with several small gifts, but if I must give to someone, I would give a big one!

Is that to save you having to do lots of wrapping??

I prefer a small one for convenience sake as it is more handy so long as the value and the pure heartfelt intention of the giver is big enough to carry.

Yes, I think the thought and love that have gone into the choice of gift mean far more than the size or monetary value.
