Now that the public option and buy in for Medicare have been removed, I want to know what people like that is in this bill. There are clearly plenty of people still supporting it even if they are the minority. This is really a test to see if any of them have read the bill, or have any idea what's really in it.
So tell me people, what is in this bill that you like? Why should anyone vote for it?

Cripe, if there is even a bill anymore, I haven't a clue whats in it, it has been changed up and hashed and rehashed and cluster-fikked and ripped apart, glued together, amended, de-amended, re-re amended and claused, committeed, torn up and re written.....whew.....so friggin much , no one has a clue what is even in it any more. It's a huge collection of dollar sgns and "Wherefor"s and "refer to"'s and "striken from"'s and a mind numbing, drool producing, glass eye inducing bunch of numbers and BULLSHYTTE now.
Cripe is it so hard to draft a nice neat 20 page bill that acomplishes a set of 3 or 4 simple goals, with out the little ornamanets and goodies added to it, with out the little "thansk for your vote" gratuties, in plan simple language? Come On congress, this is utterly inexcusable.

Nobody has even seen the bill... including the people who are supposed to be voting on it.
So what is there to like about a bill that nobody has seen, let alone not even read yet?

I do NOT like anything in it. Especially depleting the already dropping Medicare funds by 400 billion dollars to subsidise this new health care bill MADNESS. Also giving any kind of benefits to illegals this only encourages more illegals to come to our country. Perhaps Obama will just take border between USA and Mexico away and let Mexico become a new state to the USA.!!

I have a hard time keeping up with it. But I have done my best too. THings are changing so quick about what is in and what is out of it.
Personally from what I can gather now all that is really left is will help the insurance companies and not the people. Dean is right when he says it is "the insurance companies dream bill". But that could change. THere are a lot of behind closed doors meeting going on and (I think) some strong arming....so we will have to wait and see.
But to be honest....I think they will get a vote on it BEFORE the public knows what is in it. As soon as they get to magic number of 60 they will immiedately vote. They won't give the public time to read it or react. So the majority of the public and elected officials won't really know what is in til it is too late to do anything about it. KInda like the bail out. Personally I hope this thing NEVER makes it up for a vote. From what I can keep up with and find out (and I spend alot time of researching keeping up with it)....this bill is a nightmare.

...Hi tasdkr36, What's left in the bill is a mandate that everyone has to buy health care insurance at a high price. If you are older, you must pay more for your premiums than a younger person. The antit-trust legislation has been eliminated, allowing insurance companies to sell across state lines. What's left is that insurance companies can't refuse to give you insurance for having a pre-exisiting condition, but they can charge you an arm and a leg so to speak if you have markers such as high blood pressure or high cholestrolol which makes you a higher risk. What's left is the insurance companies pretty much owning and controlling the public on just about every side of the health insurance issue. I don't say kill the bill, but it is so much of nothing for the American people that it is literally a joke. They do need as Howard Dean suggested, to take it down, rewrite it, allow at least for a buy-in to Medicare at 55 clause, with a government subsidy, take out the mandate, I'm not interested in someone telling me what I must do or go to jail, and whatever else that is not feasible, take it to a reconcilation vote and move on. They are giving the insurance companies all they want with the help of Joe Lieberman and Mary Landrieu and all the Republicns. All of those people on Capitol Hill should be ashamed of what they are callimg reform. It should be called a Public Ripoff. Nothing more, nothimg less. Take care.

"What's left in the bill is a mandate that everyone has to buy health care insurance..."..."I'm not interested in someone telling me what I must do or go to jail..."
Maybe I do have some hope for you after all...this was the BIIIIIG bone of contention for me all along. The federal government has absolutely NO constitutional authority to do that under any circumstances and I have been saying all along that I would not support any bill whatsoever that had that in it, no matter how good the rest of it was.

I wish I could answer your question, Taskr, but I really can't. There are so many conflicting reports on what it will do and what it won't do at this point! I'd have much preferred Sanders single-payer bill but they never even really put that on the table. I like the idea of everyone getting the chance to choose their insurance from a large selection like federal employees do but there would have to be help available for those who can't afford to pay for it themselves. I'm against a mandate if there isn't enough help for those who can't afford it and I don't mean taking it down to their last dollar after they pay their rent or mortgage and buy a little food!
Nobody here could have read the bill as it stands now because it's not yet available! I definitely intend to read it once - or IF - it ever does get finished and made available to the public!

Nobody knows what is in this bill anymore. I lost track what was in the bill awhile back. At this point in time, I want to see the bill die. The very fact that the insurance companies have quit screaming about it makes me suspect that the insurance companies are going to be the only ones to benefit from it. And the politicans will get to tell us that they did something, even though (let's be honest) it was just bending us over a barrel.
Does anyone know if the "you must pay for insurance, even if you do not think you need it" clause is still in this bill? If so, please let this bill die---I am an unemployed college student; the government would have to put a lien on my house if they ever hope to get any money from me; I just cannot afford to pay for insurance. Hades, I do not even have enough to buy some ramen noodles.
