Any Cliff Richard fans out there? |
| |
| A certain blue bunny rabbit has been saying some awful things about my all time favourite singer, Cliff Richard. Is she in a minority? Or am I a sad and deluded old bird? Love or hate him, not many people can claim a successful career spanning over 50 years. The first time I saw Cliff live on stage, I was about 8 years old, and I've been in love ever since. The only time I can remember my mother smacking me was when I went to see 'Summer Holiday' and sat through the film 3 times. I was hours late home, and my parents were worried sick. Have you been a fan of anyone for most of your life? | | | | | |

| | Hello, Gabs - nice to see someone sensible on here! I think Cliff's secret is he knows what people want and he gives it to them in bucketloads. He's also a good role model. I mean, there's been plenty of speculation about his private life, but you've never seen him plastered all over the tabloids or staggering out of a night club at stupid 0'clock with a bimbo on each arm. He's wearing well for almost 70 as well. I'm still hoping he'll meet me and fall in love at first sight, and I've told my husband if that happens, he'll just have to hand me over without a fight! | | | |

| | Is Cliff Richard that Christian singer who married a tennis player? I think I recall one of his christmas songs, it sounded like a nursery rhyme and was something about mistletoe. I'm not familiar with his stuff but I know a few ancient people who like him. | | | | | | |
Sandra1952 (3179)
|

| | He didn't actually marry Sue Barker, but he was linked to her romantically. And I'm one of those ancient people who really like him. | | | |

| | I thought he married her. I'm just going by what I vaguely remember from when I was just a kid. I didn't mean you're ancient but I do know a lot of oldies who like Cliff so he must have been seriously good back in the day. | | | |
Sandra1952 (3179)

| | I didn't have a clue about his age and to think he's still singing at nearly 70 is totally awesome. I thought he was something like nearer 50, he looks so young. | | | |

| | Sandra will you stop it with the oldies, I think it's possible that in 3 years the acceptable term may then be middle aged. As for now you get younger in every picture and are fighting off much younger men than Cliffie, now stop putting it about that he's 70 when you know full well he's battery operated these days and botoxed up to the nines. | | | |

| | Hi Sandra. I've no opinion about Cliff Richard but he must be doing something right to last this long. I remember "Devil Woman" and "Wired For Sound" although "Mistletoe and Wine" goes right through me I'm afraid, especially when he turns round for no reason lol. Having said that, compared with Christmas singles these days it's actually quite good! :-) I once knew a lady called Briony who - like yourself - absolutely adores Cliff. Unfortunately, she's "inflicted" that love onto her daughter. Usually, it's the other way round! I have been a fan of Marillion and Magnum (British bands) for years. The original line-up of Marillion has always been my favourite and I've seen them many times (Magnum too) and no, it's not Magnum PI lol. I once took Mum to see Marillion locally because my so-called friend "couldn't be bothered" coming. She mentions it more than I do because she loved the gig so much! :-) | | | | | | |

| | Hello, Janey. My daughter doesn't like Cliff, but she does buy his CDs for me, and she's tried to get me concert tickets a couple of times, even though she'd have drawn the line at coming with me! Can't say I'm familiar with the bands you've mentioned, though. | | | |

| | I saw those comments and added a query for you over there. I wondered if Cliff is unheard of where you are just like he is here. It seems so unfair that outside of UK he is not as famous as others less worthy are. I liked his singing, the songs and his attitude to life before I left UK but then completely lost track of what he was doing. He must be old now too right? I have several that I have followed since my teens but none that I have gone wild about. If someone is/was worth it I went to see them in concert both in UK before I left and over here too. I have hundreds of 33s and even some 45s that date back a long way (remember the Samall faces, the Hollies for example) and love 'em all. Maybe Dire Straits, Phil Collins and Eric Clapton are those that I have most if not all of (including newspaper cuttings from decades ago). | | | | | | |

| | Hello, Diana. Yes, I think it's a shame that he never really caught on in the rest of Europe and America. I think he's quite well liked in China and Japan, though, strangely enough. He doesn't bring out much these days, but when he does, it usually makes the charts. He's 70 next year, and I keep telling my husband I'm going to leave him for a younger model (Tony's 76, going on 25), because I'm sure if I actually get to meet Cliff, he'll beg me to go away with him. | | | |

| | I am always an all time fan of Cliff Richard. Yes he is one of the most successful singer that this universe has produced. They are many singers but his career has spanned many years to make him an evergreen singer. His golden voice has serenaded people from every corners of the world and never fail to capture the hearts of people of all ages despite having new challenges in todays music scenes. I am never into these new age songs. I grew up with Cliff Richard songs and he will always be my favorite. | | | | | | |

| | Cliff Richards. why YES! I know that name! wait! I will find something http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XuGMcZpMxZA SINGING THE BLUES!! I remember hearing that song!! and for sure I remember singing 'devil woman' and 'we don't talk anymore'.It must have been on the radio then alot or I wouldn't have known about it otherwise. I thought he was great. We never had a TV back then either. I have been a great fan of Bruce Springsteen also and I also really liked the Beatles.. I guess there were lots more too. I love music! Also Pavarotti!! | | | | | | |

| | Hello, Fjaril. It seems we have quite a lot in common. I like Bruce Springsteen, and the Beatles, as well as Pavarotti. They played 'We Don't Talk Anymore' on the radio this afternoon - it's one of my favourite Cliff songs. I love any good music, with words you can hear and a tune that gets to you. Unfortunately, not many of today's singers can match up to those rather humble requirements, with the possible exception of Susan Boyle. Have you got her in Sweden yet? | | | |

She is brilliant! I suspected that she might be so good becaue I remembereed Paul Potts also!! Wasnt that something!!! yes.. Britain's got talent, alright!

Alice, nice of you to drop in, and yes, Susan's looking fantastic. Did you see the programme last Sunday? She's got a fantastic personality, as well as a wonderful voice.

| | All day I'm walking in a dream, I think about you constantly.... Wow... yea, that's a song I love very much.... Lesson in love is damn cute and sweet... Millenium Prayer is nothing but simple words from the Bible, which is so heartrending and brings tears to my eyes.... the way they sing it and it's been performed really well. I just love all his songs. Don't Talk him is a beauty.... Can just mention all of his songs and sing them over and over again constantly.... | | | | | | |

I don't know whether he's still a virgin or not, but he can practice on me any time he likes. Must go and have a cold shower - I'm getting all hot and bothered again, and it could be fatal at my age! I'm with you on Ben Kingsley and James Woods, though, but I'm glad you're no competition for Cliff's affections, because he might prefer you to me, and then I'd have to step back into serial killer mode.
